The older man looks at the dagger

For such a mighty pirate, Jack, you shouldn't be carrying around useless trinkets. I've seen better daggers carried by whores.

The man looks toward Jack, who is clearly butthurt.

See Jack, unlike you I don't run around making a big scene, showing my face. Being on wanted posters plastered throughout Avonmora doesn't make you a great pirate. It makes you careless. You draw unnecessary attention to yourself. Why do you think you run into trouble everywhere you go, with guards constantly showing up. They aren't looking for me.

I can walk out of this tavern and the guards won't give me a second thought, but you can't, especially after Seaglory and Regis.

Here is a question for you, who do you think draws more fear, a pirate the public can put a face to, or a ruthless pirate that they can't?

The older man turns his attention back to Sister Ellen.

Sister, may I just call you Ellen?

Before Sister Ellen can respond, the older man continues

My name is John White. Yes, I'm an old friend of William, although prior to seeing him in Seaglory and Regis, I haven't spoken to him in many years.

Because you are putting that are too bullshit, 100 soldiers cant even fit in the tavern, unless they are all fake soldiers

Ellen sits with John and smiles.

Yes you can call me Ellen, I don't mind. May I ask what your doing here in Tortuga? I doubt your a merchant, as almost none are willing to come here until the local pirates are taken care of, and you don't strike me as a bounty hunter.

jack looks at the old man and laughs.

Might I remind you that if one commits a great many crimes that there face goes on a wanted poster anyway, regardless of how much of "making a scene" one does? Also, I do things like sack cities so of course there will be wanted posters of me, regardless of again how much "scene making" goes on. I like adventure and danger, the only time I have truly made a scene was when I recruited those men in Regis, any other times I have been attacked it's because of things having to do with reputation. So now, may I join you for some cards?

Jack sits down without permission.

Mr. White shakes his head.

One can also commit crimes and remain unseen and unknown. As I said when I first met you, don't let my appearance fool you. You are trying to equate visibility and notoriety to being tough. They are not comparable. You are careless in your actions and lack sense. You clearly don't know when to keep a low profile or show restraint in your actions. You put people who have helped you in more danger than necessary. You don't think. You just act, and in the process cause more issues. When you understand that, maybe I will consider continuing our discussion.

A young man rushes in to the tavern. He moves quickly to John White and whispers a message into his ear. The young man leaves as quickly as he appeared. Mr. White gathers his playing cards and stands up from the table. He turns to Ellen.

Ellen, I'm sorry to end our conversation, but my presence in this tavern must come to an end. If you wish to further discuss, I have a cottage just outside the town, east of the Church.

Jack scowls and begins to talk in an extremely menacing voice that makes most of the people in the tavern shiver with fear.

I'll continue the conversation, sir, when you give me some proof for points. It is impossible to attack someone's ships and completely get away with it without slaughtering the whole damned crew! To hell with you and your "piracy". My "carelessness" has gotten me rich and famous. I have taken whole damned cities and gotten rich beyond belief, it's not careless if it works. I never underestimated you sir, and I pray you, don't make the mistake of underestimating me.
