The first casualty of war is the sleep lost if you allow it to. A re-adjustment to priorities will help your game when you return.
Don't feel too depressed as its a natural evolution in the game for those who continue to press on after a big can of ass-whup has been delivered on your doorstep.
No matter how big you are, how many ships you have or the size of your voodoo chest, it happens to everyone who has persevered here.

Take a break for a few days and come back with a new attitude and ways to protect your assets.
It feels wrong now but in a few days you will laugh about it and have a new understanding of the 'human' element in the game.

KARMA

It isn't fun when the shoe is on the other foot.

As long as you were the aggressor, you didn't seem to have a problem with others losing their hard earned ships, gold coin, influence, etc.

That being said, losing sleep over a game breaks one of "DezNutz** Rules on Online Gaming". Don't get emotionally attached to a game. And yes, you are. If you are worrying about what may happen while you sleep to the point you are losing sleep, you are emotionally attached.

Best advice I can give you is take a step back, think about how you want to play, and move forward.

Don't be a quitter.

Don't change your in-game name after posting a story on your profile page, that in so many words is verbal suicide of your previous persona, so you can get a game achievement for great role-playing.

Yeah, I'm still a bit miffed about that : I sweated blood and shed copious tears creating the saga of the Great Lord Danik's War Diary and what did I get? Nada.. nuffink.. this game is way too biased... I threw in pathos, glory, exile, depression, strange erotic hints : I even quoted Volt-bloody-aire : hip cultural references abounded, spelling mistakes, bad grammar : something for everyone!

And this dude writes a few lines of doggerel about faking his own death and wins a bloody Oscar : is there no justice? Did Magna Carta die in vain? (See what I did there, heh? Could he do that, no way ; reference a comedy genuis whilst punning on the subjects name... I'm good, you know... so wheres my prize... admins... dont know they are born... )

It's nice to see another old fashioned guild war.
They are far too infrequent now.
I think the last major 'guild' war was Ayes vs Merc. I don't recall Vudu being involved in anything major so there is lots to learn regarding vulnerabilities that show up when the going gets tougher or when you are in a fight for your fleet survival.

Something else you learn is if you plunder and pillage with no regards, those same people will help you swing when they see a noose around your neck.
On the other hand, I've had me own tail saved by others who noticed I was under attack and not online by topping up my purse when needed.
