Or in short, Honor
Description
Honor should be the opposite of Hostility.
Currently, when you violate a law of a country, that country penalizes you with Hostility.
Honor will come as the countries way to reward lawful or beneficiary actions that serve their plans.
Functionality
-Every player will be able to have a honor rating with every country in the game.
-Honor points won, will not be lost over time.
-Honor negates hostility.
-It won't be possible to have both Hostility and Honor with a nation. Each one will cancel the other one out.
Examples
Example 1
A player with 15 Hostility Points towards Bermuda earns 5 Honor points from Bermuda.
As a result, his Hostility will drop by 5. He will not earn any honor points.
Example 2
A player has 345 Honor points with Spain
He decides to attack a fellow Spaniard. Spain does not like this and through the Hostility Law imposes a penalty of 20 Hostility points.
As a result, his Honor with Spain will drop to 325 but he will not get any hostility.
Other usage
-There will be a similar list to Hostility to every nation official. Kings might want to create internal rules on Honor required in order to give out Governor positions (forthcoming King ability).
-You could transform Honor to Loyalty points. For example, players could be able to turn 10 Honor points into 1 Loyalty point. This means that if you have 1000 Honor points with a country, you will be able to exchange the Honor points with instant citizenship (exact metric is debatable). This method will only be possible for those that have completed their Titles Mission at least once (they must have claimed the MoW).
-We are open to more ideas.
Earning Honor Points
Although rewards will be decided by individuals, we will still need to have some standard caps to prevent exploitation. No matter what, if the King likes you, joining a nation will become much easier but this should not be of concern as it makes sense. Still, it needs to be somewhat defined, to ensure competitiveness among those favored to the King and those that are disfavored.
- The first ways to earn Honor points will be by either attacking an Enemy of the Crown or by using a Letter of the Marque. These are both issued by the King of the target country and could be your best ticket to earn Honor points easily. There should be some consideration in how many honor points will be earned through these ways.
- By paying up a debt you have at another nation Perhaps we could give this ability, again to the King of the nation, to collect debts of the nation. All collected debt would go in treasury (but King will get to keep a small fee, like 5%~10%). This will only apply to debts from players outside the nation. The one who pays the debt, will earn honor points with the country. I know it sounds a bit weird but its a small incentive to get the debt paid. Add the LoM ability and debt collection will be surely easier than now. (In fact, currently it is not even possible as you must join a nation to pay the debt).
- Blockade Rewards By successfully protecting a port, you will gain Honor points with the holding nation of the Port. We need to define how many - At blockades topic I named 75 but perhaps we need to have proof of work (ie, maximum 75, 1 Honor point per 1000 DMG conducted) before this reward can be given.
Honor Point earnings when attacking an EotC
-Plunder attack: 3 Honor Points
-Plunder Win: 7 Honor Points (Total 10 per plunder win)
-Skirmish attack: 1 Honor point
-Skirmish Win: 1 Honor Point (Total 2 per skirmish win)
-Successful Aggressive Voodoo: 1 Honor Point
I think this will do for a start. I will review where necessary as discussion unfolds.
Partially implemented, honor points only.
