Be aware : Chrome is not so much a browser as a client : its acts as a portal, directing all its requests via a google proxy server : this makes the collection of usage data far more efficient than drawing it from each and every browse in use and, of course, none of those pesky permissions to worry about.
I often find that the DNS server provided/used by google is over-loaded and doenst respond for varying periods : not a lot can be done, its the service providers problem, not the site at the other end of the request.
