I think the ladies did an awesome job this time sticking to a team theme. It is obvious in some cases and not so obvious in others.

I do see what your saying though.

This draft was excellent, but I do see how it is becoming the same. On page 15 or 16 of this topic, I posted the last two drafts' teams, as I suspected that a number of players would be picked again. The next draft needs to have something different.

Shadowood in the future wrote:We could have a draft that judges each team on different categories instead of just overall. This would open up the draft to a larger player base, especially if the captains need to ensure there teams are more diverse.

We could also require that teams fill specific positions and roles. For instance you would have positions such as Tactician, Trade Master, etc. Those positions would have effect on the team but you couldn't count on their resources, just knowledge. Then you have your general team members where resources and overall abilities matter. Would make drafts a lot more strategic.

We could also set a rule for the next draft that any player that was selected in the last two drafts is ineligible for the next draft. Would eliminate repeat players.

Or alternatively, we could require that players chosen in the last draft cannot be picked in the first 5 rounds of the next draft.

+1 I agree with Shadowood's future statements.

Although I think the last one would be a great start for all future drafts as it would force captains to choose players that haven't been previously drafted but still allow the big name players to still be picked later in the draft.

Then it no longer becomes a fantasy draft does it? ;)

Themes is good to see different aspects, opinions, and construction. But eliminating choices for those tasked with picking their "ideal" team contradicts the point behind the event.

I could see picking certain "positions" for a team that are mandatory. I like the suggestion of tactician, trade master, banker and such. with the rest being open selection. Say 3 or 4 position players and the rest open.

Even with adding themes, there are only so many you can touch on. Monotony will kill the draft. You do something enough with the outcome being almost identical as before and you will find the community as a whole will get bored with it.

I'm just throwing suggestions out there. I don't want the draft to be monotonous.

I would like to see a "rookie draft"

5 captains maybe 5 positions each team. That would definitely change things up a bit.

Ah the draft one of the best conversation starters since it started. It's sad to not be picked this time but at least the teams are really well put together this is going to be hard.

rookie draft is a good idea,

I also would love to see a evolving draft. where the captain only picks 1 player.
that player chooses the first pick, the first pick chooses the second pick, 2nd the third, and so fourth.

I would not mind a team input draft - as players are added to the team they must all
agree on the following picks as a team.- this could be far to time consuming

and of coarse the obvious themes

Pirate team

Merchant team

Nobleman team
