It originally started as an abbreviation for "This is nuts" or " He is nuts" depending on the context. Naturally, it evolved to be short for "these nuts" in reference to male genitalia .
Now you are correct that these is a famous Instagram user who goes by it, which is why I don't see it as an offensive nickname.
We all come from different countries and backgrounds and while nearly all of us know English, select few know other languages beside their own and English.
As a result, anything that has English basis will be subjected to more scrutiny than any other language to the point of unfairness. While I advocate for clean gaming, I don't believe this one should even be a concern.
