Governors Preference

Postby Dmanwuzhere » Mon Jul 31, 2017 12:29 am

Seems the Governors preference for regulating which port he resides is not working. I set my preference yesterday and it put me opposite of my choice even though I had the higher influence. Maybe there is something in the mechanics I do not know, if so could you explain. If not you have a bug. :beer

I belive the Duke with the highest influence governs the port with the highest population

I could make a guess that when a governor has not stated a port preference, then the 'old' system of ranking by highest influence matched to highest population takes precedence : if this gives them a specific port requested by another (who may have lesser influence), then they in turn will default to the older method (as their choice is already taken) and so the knock-on effect could mean no-one gets their port of choice.
The above is speculation, it could be tested by ensuring ALL potential Governors have made a choice of port to govern then seeing if the update matches those choices.

I agree this feature does not appear to work. I would guess the code was not activated. I noticed this a while back, but It makes no difference at the moment. Hopefully it will be sorted out before plantations arrive.

Highest influence takes 1st choice always. If he has not set a choice, he will get the highest population port after all other Governors get their choices, if any.

I noticed that dman has little difference in terms of infuence from 2nd. Are you sure you were top influence at the update?
Do you still have the issue?

Anyone else had a similar issue?

Yep, mine isn't my preference, not that it matters a lot at the moment but for the purposes of code checking, I do have a preference set and I have not been allocated it.
