Fantasy Draft III Discussion

We are fast approaching the 3rd Pirates Glory Fantasy Draft! (which is a Bi-Annual event)

The first two drafts were run in the same fashion, so as to keep it fresh and new I am looking for new ideas to implement into future drafts.
I have some current ideas that I will share but I would like more feed back as I plan to keep this going for sometime.

Going forward I will try to have a new element to each draft so if you like one from this list but we don't do it for FD-III, its a good possibility that we will do it for FD-IV or FD-V.

Option 1: "Follow The Leader"
- Captains would be the Rookies picked from the last round (if they are still around. If not I will find some)
- The captains would pick the first round. After this round is finished, whom ever they picked would pick for round 2. This would continue until round 10. Round 10 would be the only players who would not draft someone.
- This would have some very fun and interesting results and include more players in the draft process. However it may be an organizational nightmare trying to get everyone to pick in a timely fashion. One thing I applaud in the last 2 drafts, the captains I selected agreed to be on and pay attention to the draft to ensure it didn't go on for a month. I still thank them for that.

Option 2: "Best Pirate/Privateer" (Option 3 will of course be Best Merchant/Noble)
- Captains would be selected by Shadowood and be a pirate or privateer themselves
- Teams would be judged on which is the best pirating crew (plunder, skirmish, ship stealing, etc.)
- Only 5 rounds
- Bonus 6th round to vote in a non active player in this category. Chance to bring in some history into the draft.

Option 3: "Best Merchant/Noblemen" (If we chose option 2 or 3, then we will rotate these two option for the next 2 Drafts)
- Captains would be selected by Shadowood and be a Merchant/Noblemen themselves
- Teams would be judged on which is the best at trading and controlling nations (Trade income, fleet size, ports control, gold smith, banks, etc)
- Only 5 rounds
- Bonus 6th round to vote in a non active player in this category

Option 4: "Traditional Draft"
- We don't change things up and run the same style of draft but with new captains
- Captains would be the Rookies from last round, unless inactive then Shadowood would select
- There has been a lot of changes in the last 6 months. Some old dogs are gone, some new players are making a splash. I can guarantee, we would see a new draft make up even if we ran the same format again.

Option 5: ???? Open for suggestions ????

LOL. Every 6 months sir. I am looking at the 2nd week in September right now.. I will have a firm date once we have a format done.

it's still surprisingly close seems like it's been a very short time but at the same time a long one.

I like option 1, but I would add that if an inactive player is chosen, the Captain would choose the next pick.

Search in the forums for the first two drafts and you will see.

5 captains select who they think will make up the best team. Then the players vote for best team. Prizes are awarded.

Follow the leader sounds really fun. It does sound like it would be harder to implement, I suggest that a timer be added in the event that a player selected does not pick within a certain time limit, then the captian picks the next one. This will also add a bit more strategy as your putting your faith that the one you pick will in turn pick another good choice.
