Thats my point. It took me until now to realize that. that is wisdom i could have used from day 1. Things came to easy. I just happened to start at the perfect time. Wreck hunting and A LOT of inactives to plunder.

My point was that I was able to get the MOW in about 2 weeks from my first day of sailing. Looking back now, that was a huge mistake. I achieved the rank of Marquess without "earning" it through knowledge and game play.

i asked a rhetorical question, saying, in a different way, what you're saying but also from a different point of view.

i wrote my story because i appreciated yours. to admit and acknowledge mistakes (even though unknowingly made) takes guts, to share it with others so they may benefit from it even more so. i salute you for that! :y

Yes, newer players should not push through quickly until they have a good understanding of the game mechanics. You aren' the first, nor the last that will experience this. The problem is that the game can't force players to slow down. The ability to recover from major conflicts and battles quickly is a positive aspect of this game, which is one of the reasons new players can bounce forward quickly. Currently the responsibility to get new players to take it slow to learn the game is at the Guild Level.

A separate tutorial world may be an option before players hit the actual game. Players who join would enter into a small world that provides that an interactive guide to learn the basics. Maybe provide a decent reward for those that complete the tutorial . Player can skip at any point and go right into the game but would forfeit the reward.

A lot of players (maybe its a pride thing) avoid the "HELP" section in most games. This one has a pretty decent one. You can find most of the items you are searching for there or on the forums. In the help section there is links to Player Made Guides. And also, one of the best Player Made websites in Vane's Codex.

Vane put a lot of work into this site and might still be adding to it (we had a falling out, he doesn't speak to me any more... His monkey bit me so I kick it in the teeth... No matter...). I would advise players seeking knowledge to start here and also join 1 of several great guilds.

You are most welcome! And I am very pleased you stuck around after my "failed" attempt at your MoW. Props to your guild mates at the time.

You just proved my point however, that not many players look at the HELP Section. Maybe this link needs to be in a bit more prominent location.

Put it on the sidebar and change the label to "Help, I'm A Newb"

One of the best implies that there are more "best" ones out there. :D I wouldn't forget about yours...

But yes, Vane's is better at the present time. ;)
