i would love a personalized server time, but i believe it to be impossible since we all interact with the rest in some ways. our duke status in a country for example or the market price adjustment or the loan payments etc.

the one solution i see is to shorten the game day lasts only 8 RL hours. this way all players will have a beneficial and a bad server time. taxation and all that kind of stuff have to get adjusted so that nobody gets triple stipends or get tripple taxation.

My bad math not 3 it's 4 credits

So I usually don't use them unless I really have to, but its still useless. I think you were never attacked that way before have you?

Edit: Changed it after getting a message from Haron.

I neither can confirm or deny have I been attacked this way but let me just say that my tactic worked in the past

It's best we don't make it random for everyday, that would kind of be unfair on the pirates, but instead a way where the merchant can change it for themself every once in awhile and the pirate have gather info about it.

There are actually a few simple solutions to this (although it has already been disapproved).

1) Manually pay your taxes after update (Turn off Auto-pay)

2) Become a Pirate.

3) Have enough money on hand to counter update costs to include if hit by voodoo.

4) Make sufficient gc to cover potential losses.

5) Stay off the radar of others so they don't cast voodoo on you.

Grimrock is on the top ten list for most ships. Those players are always on the radar of pirates - and those with pirate tendencies.

Whose fault is that?

And it doesn't make my statement any less true.

OH, and I would to Thank Haron for pointing the above out, which leads me to this:

6) Deal with the hand you are dealt, especially when you dealt it to yourself.

Also, I am not talking about taxes, I am talking about upkeep which is not the same.

Join a nation paying stipends or pass your own stipend law, works just fine for the majority.

Grimrock Litless wrote:I am not sure if this is a option in the game, or if anyone suggested this before, but I would like to be able to change the time at which I pay the upkeep or that I can pay it manually like ship tax.

Can change only every 3 days. This would give a better defence against Taxation.

you said it, but i remembered the last line.

taxation is part of gameplay since it is pvp in some ways. the gc goes to your nations treasure chest. stop paying and you gain hostility and get some unwanted results.
upkeep goes to Captain Jack; when the upkeep would be part of pvp with repercussions set in play i think being able to pay manually would not be a problem. What kind of repercussions do you recommend when the upkeep is neglected?

Taxations can be used as a technique to reduce target's purse, and thus steal ships. It is a bit risky, and there are several problems with such a strategy, but I think that is what Guluere is referring to. So it's the amount lost by the target that matters. Where it ends up is of less concern.
