Regarding big ships and more levels, you need to change some things I believe.

Ever since the introduction of damage cards and the consistent drop of Booty Masters cost, it has became impossible to defend such ships. While it has became a habit to be hunting for MoWs for example, the reality is that the ones who have them out are mostly players who have just earned them.

There is no real meaning to even pull a MoW out, as the one who steals it will have nothing to get back so you will surely run into loss. Of course, in the same time, other ships become more important as most players will use Frigates. So SoLs are now very important but again, no one will field 4 or 5 SoLs in one fleet.

What will happen if you allow more levels? Again all these ships will be there for the taking and I believe really few people will try it. Perhaps we might stop seeing SoLs if this happens.

I think that what mostly needs to change is Booty Master. Either a limit (like ambush perhaps) or a complete makeover is needed. I know you are against limits but if you do not address Booty Master issue, do not hope for unrestricted ship levels to work or for players to pull out their big guns.

I would really like to hear the opinions of the rest players on this. For me, I know that I can steal ANY ship right now on the map, the moment I decide it. Either because I am fully prepared or because I have enough friends to back this up. Point is that I can do it and like me, more can do it. I think that this needs to change.

Top of the hour works fine (FoJ) for example and can lead to exciting battles between worthy opponents . Ambush though, without the limit, would be a game breaker.

Well, the same is Booty Master. I am saying either change it or limit it.

Booty Masters should have a limit of five per 24 hours.

After all, what is the point of carrying more just for one pirate to steal it by buying credits and being a pay to win?

I am glad that one posted and this one agrees. Especially when we speak about a player with intense pirate tradition. I could even do with 10 as the limit, really.

I disagree. Yes, it's possible to take any ship on the map (provided the target isn't actively watching). I think that is OK, because to take such ships and still profit from it, is another story. A well set up fleet defence will make the attack far too expensive to be worth it.

As for MoWs: Since SoLs are relaitvely common, I DO see a use for MoWs, in taking on the SoLs. Such fleets have to be used carefully, though. Trade escorts for gold smiths, or used in raids against SoL fleets, such ships can be useful. Or when skirmishing for gold bars.

I like that any ship can be taken. Nothing should be safe. Booty master is definitely among my favourite cards. They are the only possible countermeasure to the "gold coin defence", where people keep lots of gold to defend their fleets. With a limit on this, it would be too easy to defend one's fleets. I think defending fleets are already too easy. Anyone with some experience should know how to keep their fleets safe enough to not be stolen with a profit. Ship stealing must NOT be made harder.

What is the point of building Ship of the Lines, for someone to cast 20-30 Booty Master and claim it within a instant, all the hard work gone?

Explain?

You are forgetting that the total would not add up like that. for example
lets say Sparrow has 7M on hand
I use one BM and it hits with 7%. he loses 490K.
he now has 6,510,000 I use a second for 7%
he loses 455,700 he now has 6,054,300.
the total percentage lost at 10 BM each being lucky with a 7% max would be a fair bit lower then 70%. maybe when I have more free time I will find out the max you would lose. but for now I think I made my point clearly enough.
