(Legendary) Indentured Servitude

Do you have an idea for a card ? Do you want a tweak on existing voodoo cards? Perhaps you even want one of them removed? This is where you can post your suggestion.

Removing the ability on taxes counteracts the name of the card.

Hm. You should be paying your nation if you are part of the council or anywhere of rank. I don't there should be a card that avoids tax paying to your nation. 99% of the time it is manageable.

I just don't see it.

I agree that a player should be paying their taxes. However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a card temporarily removing that. Is it fair for someone to have to pay more taxes than they should because someone cast voodoo on them? Should they be able to get that money back from the nation since it was more than what they were supposed to pay?

I am guessing an alternative would be you pay your original taxes over the duration at once immediately after card wears off.

I dont see this card as having any value for dodging your own taxes : its only application would be offensive in nature : to deny a nation tax income ( for which it is too weak) and to force hostility upon the target ( for which it is too strong), which if unattended too, will lose them their flag and any rank they have.

As I already said, the name misleads, it has little to do with tax evasion. A better name would be 'Forced Exile'. A further clue to the intended offensive nature of the card is the piercing ( why would you need that to cast on yourself?) and resistance qualities, (again, why would you need that for a self-cast?) Both, however, very useful for getting it on target and keeping it there.

So, I reckon the proposer should present their arguments for this card in that light, rather than pretend its some neat way to avoid upkeep.

BTW : it would be an excellent tool for removing inactive kings, governors or dukes : perhaps the proposer should focus on that aspect and re-present the card.

Why would you need to overthrow the king of an inactive nation?

To make room for yourself?

It does happen that inactives can block progress for some nations : a good example was when Roth/Aubrey (ahem) 'left' (ahem) the game but still occupied the throne and governors seats in USA : or it could be part of a hostile takeover fight, clearing space to gain usable governor-level votes.

Rare occurrence. IS that really worth the creation of a new voodoo card? Isn't gaining enough influence to bypass them and waiting so tough?

Oh, I'm not arguing for the card at all : I just think it was wrongly presented and, trying to be positive, this (forced exile) is about the only purpose I could find for it : that the purpose is limited and rather niche aint my fault, I can live without it cluttering up me chest...
