point of origin (Legendary Voodoo)

Do you have an idea for a card ? Do you want a tweak on existing voodoo cards? Perhaps you even want one of them removed? This is where you can post your suggestion.

Influence and population cards are undercover, regardless of the synonyms you give them such as "Point of Origin." There is no point of origin when someone casts Antag on you and is in the right fame range.

Reason why they don't have "Undercover" on them is because there is no fame involved.

Your assuming that because there is no current way of seeing the casts, that it is supposed to be anonymous.

It is currently anonymous isn't it? Do you have anyway of currently telling who cast what on your port?

Well if you can't, then it is anonymous.

Def: not identified by name; of unknown name.

You have no name, nothing when someone casts on a port. Then it is anonymous.

If we wanted to keep track of involved players, we would have to track losses and winnings. Perhaps, the only way to do this, is not to track who actually did these but who benefited from these actions.

In this way, we reveal nothing extra and we can keep the anonymous part of the port wars. After all, the final standings are that matter and these are visible to all so we do nothing more than recording history.

We will develop this now, in priority than everything else as this is a great tool for us for many other usages (ie, Avonomora Herald, future badges, achievements, admin tools, etc).

oLoD 5x

Would be better if the effect showed the last X number of casts, not all casts over a period of time.

when i prepared for this card i had 'the last 25 cards cast with player ID#; i struggled with the wording of it so i changed to a time limit :)

both options have pro's and cons, with time limit the caster has to guess when the 'evil' was done, with 'X most recent' it is how many cards were cast after the villain did his harm.
this card is hardly to find out who is doing nation runs, so 'the bad guy' can hide in a sea of innocents :)
to keep room for wiggling i did not propose to reveal a list of players who cast most cards on a port.

@ Mugiwara
this card will not reveal wife's or hideout or warehouse sizes or stuff like that. it will only reveal voodoo cast on a port. for now there are only 3 such cards, in the future may be more, who knows.

at the moment there is no danger in bringing the plague to a port. i think it is fair that there is a way to find out who is casting biological weapons of mass destruction.
will port owners use this card? yes, i believe so. when there is a significant drop in population and thus in port income, one wants to discourage those responsible. even when this becomes an expensive card, it will be used to prevent more losses.

What is your aim with that card? what will it bring to the game. why should we want this card? Because at present i only see this card will help port owners nothing more. if your main purpose not to learn who making party in which ports. or who have wife or girlfriend in which ports.

Nothing wrong with a card that helps national interests.

Semantics. The game defines anonymous card activity via a card attribute called "undercover". If the attribute is not associated to the card, the card per the game is not anonymous. You're asserting that if a card's cast can't be seen by others, that the card must be undercover and anonymous.

The topic is about a public page showing port statistics. There is data that open to the public could reveal information about card usage to everyone. Voodoo information is something different as the data obtained from a voodoo cast is semi-private, as you can't cast Spy Network and then post it on the forum for everyone to see.

thanks, the link makes it clear that this has to do about revealing yet unknown information by sharing data in public spaces. it is not related to allowing new voodoo that has the purpose to reveal hidden info.

and you are right about the party and ruby cards. i missed those. other cards like terrorize or OLoD involve ports but are not targeted at ports. they won't be noticed by this card.

Port voodoo is currently anonymous. That anonymity is important when fighting over ports. Everything that makes port battles less likely, is a bad idea, in my opinion.

Also, trying to find out who is behind certain attacks on a port is an interesting job. There will be suspicions in several directions, and using this, and trying to find who's actually behind it, it's very fun, I believe.

Removing this anonymity would probably make more players hire us to harm ports, but I still think it's a bad idea.
