(Uncommon) Distraction

Do you have an idea for a card ? Do you want a tweak on existing voodoo cards? Perhaps you even want one of them removed? This is where you can post your suggestion.

well when i comment i made this suggestion kind of pair with port effect voodoo suggestions. lets say Captain D's or William One Eye's port suggestions approved with this one.

They used it on a port and all trading fleets which visit that port gained 3 danger penalty. with this card you can cast this on your guild members and at least you will help your friends in case of emergency. This needs teamwork and cooperation in guilds.

All suggestions are legendary cards. So in my opinion one for attack one for defense. It seems fair to use it on your teammates and effect all fleets.

1) I assume that this card can only be cast on a fleet owned by oneself. If the card is to be updated to all fleets instead of just one, I assume this could only be cast on oneself.

2) I assume that this card only effects a fleet that is on the plunder board (danger > 2).

1) It can be cast on any fleet as long as its not traveling.

2) It can be cast on fleets with 0 danger, which work like a bait. Causing the attacker to gain danger and waste his turns.
If the baiter has a fleet to use to attack the gained danger fleet, he can pick off on a few targets that fall for it.

How about this variant, which clearly would be legendary and have a high cost:

> It can be cast on your own or other players fleets
> A decoy is generated for EVERY fleet the target owns which has a danger of 3 or more
> The decoys look identical to their real counterpart (even fleet ID and ship ID)
> The decoys gain and lose danger just like ordinary fleets
> A hit on a decoy reports that it is a decoy to the attacker only
> Once a decoy gets danger below 3, it is instantly removed

Thinking about this more, at least from a programming perspective, there is an issue with 2 fleets having the same ID. The fleets could not be duplicated, which could effectively defeat this card. The Fleet ID would have to be different and any experienced player would easily catch on looking at the IDs. If the Fleet IDs are the same, the URL would have to be different for the game to perform a different action and thus any smart player would figure it out rather quickly. That or they would have to rebuild how fleets are identified via plundering.

What if id would be different randomly generated by the numbers that are in original one... true anyone would notice it but still harder and it should ease programmers issues...

The fleets ID doesn't have to BE identical, just APPEAR identical (the real ID could be 0.5 higher, for instance).

Of course, there's the issue of what will happen when fleet specific voodoo is used. If the "real" ID is used, then such voodoo will always affect the real fleet, not the decoy. But perhaps that is OK. "Ambush" can never be used against a decoy anyway, since that can only be used against fleets with less than 3 danger, so I don't think that would matter much.

Why I made it what it is.
Only target one fleet : The use of baiting and targeting only one fleet for use is in place.

Lastes 6 hours and high turn cost : The short duration and high turn cost means that one can never spam this.

Uncommon : It becames more common for use, instead of what others want, as a last resort.

The only 3 hours you said means that this voodoo last only 1 hour and its gone, it will end up being a forgotten voodoo very quickly. As that would make it extremly weak.

What I am suggesting is a voodoo that can stand the test of time and still be used in the future. A voodoo everyone can use and not just the rich.

Understood, Grimrock. As such, I would give it a -1, though. I surely would NOT want such a card to be only "uncommon".

Should not be too hard...

Random random = new Random();
int randomNumber = random.Next(0, 2000)

x1 = //function for the average of the target fleet IDs;

private string RandomString(int Size)
{
string input = "0123456789";
StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
char ch;
for (int i = 0; i < Size; i++)
{
ch = input[random.Next(0, input.Length)];
builder.Append(ch);
}
return builder.ToString();
}

if (input > x1 + randomNumber)
{
//discard value
}

else if (input < x1 + randomNumber || input > x1 - randomNumber)
{
//display table function
}
Just repeat after me: "Czar Ivan did not help me win the elections."

Me : Make suggestion only the rich can use.

Everyone else : We want new comers to be able to use this.

Me : Make suggestion everyone can use.

Everyone else : Lets make this so that only we can use it, got it?

Its almost as if people is being bribed in game to do things.
