I actually like this idea. Should not happen a lot, but enough to deter massive hunting efforts. 1 in 20 chance this will happen seems reasonable.

My thinking is deep-water NPC salvage is a lot closer to the 'Expedition' or 'Lost Islands' proposals : so, for the chance of great reward there should exist some risk of great loss. NPC farming carries risk of loss, both coin and ship levels : Treasure Hunting carries risk of an empty chest being found ; so, this form of salvage should do likewise : I would suggest also that the existing 'shallow water' salvage continue as is : if the sea-bed gets cleared, well, they come back empty and that will winnow out the mass-fleeters : but a steady stream of ships are sunk so it will just become a harder task to find one. And, of course, if you know a certain high value ship has just been sunk, your chances of recovering it improve mightily if fewer other ships are in the way.

when seabottom will be cleared than tidal waves prize will increase slightly. i guess someone buying all of them maybe because of that. Fastest way to get a high value sunk ships.

And im agree for risks like you offered Danik. Its all depends if admins will decide to keep this event active or situational uses only.

I see the NPC version as a way for new players to grow. Since any reward is chance based, the possibilty someone may pull up that MoW you are searching for does not exist. Also no low id# ships as that does not exist either. I like the kraken eating a ship idea, and perhaps there should be a chance nothing is returned or other possible hazards.

I think even now most tidal waves return ships for moorings

I would be curious to know how TW will act if the sea-bed is cleared and no ships out of fleet or inactive meet the conditions at time of casting : would/could it return an empty response? Or is there a sort of default NPC option should all else fail to return a players ship?

Tidal wave says "...as long as one exists in Avonmora", implying that if no such ship exists, the card won't work. Of course, strictly speaking, it does not explisitely state what happens if no such ship exists in Avonmora. It just say that the card will work if such a ship DOES exist...

OR : CJ got drunk on high-octane gin and coded it so that such an event will cause a massive tsunami to sweep across Avonmora destroying all warehouses and thus creating a shortage of trousers : JessyA will then relaese her limited edition kilts onto the market at exorbitant prices and clean up.
