Maths Quiz:

Postby Admiral Nelson » Fri Dec 30, 2016 4:42 pm

Maths Quiz:
- If Da Vinci decided to clear the Sea Bottom, how long would it take him?
- If all of the Top 3 Merchants came together; How many days would it take to clear up the Sea Bottom? ( Without using Instant Travel )
- If everybody came together, how long would it take to clear the Bottom?

This has no prize, just something fun to think of. :))

I have one more:

If I want to calculate this:
1 * x + 2 *x + 3*x + .... + n*x

How I calculate it?

I used to know but I no longer remember. Anyone willing to help? :)

CDV : 1080 ships : = 240 fleets : 2 trips per day : 480 wrecks recovered : 62000 wrecks = about 130 days

Top 3 merchants : 3000 ships roughly... = 600 fleets : at 2 trips per day :1200 wrecks gathered : 62000 wrecks = about 52 days, if left to it.

Everyone? Need to know how many active ships there are.

Proviso is, we dont yet know the average fail rate, I'm sure there is one : nor if finds become progressively harder as the sea-floor gets swept

The problem is that there isn't an equal number of ships sunk at each port. So your numbers will be only a general estimate and will likely be short. Unless you know how many ships are sunk at each port, you will never be able to calculate this out accurately. Furthermore, fleet statistics such as total cargo capacity and crew counts make a difference in finding a ship and assumably the type of ship found.

maths based on calculations not predictions. If we want to give proper answers for your questions we need to know ships find rate. how much the cargo and crew capacity effet the rate. is it based on calculations or just use bigger get more.

Because i dont have this informations at my hand i cant give you a proper answer. Still here is the predictions(based on best case scenario):D

1-) 141 days(based on true calculations)
2-) 102 days 12 hours
3-)5 days and 12 hours

Best case scenario include every travel get a ship and every players ship counts multiplies of 5 and all active ships and sunk ships equally distributed to ports

True story...

x * (1 + 2 + ... + n) should be = x * n * (n + 1) / 2

This is the same as x * (1+2+3+...+n). Rather than tell you the answer, I'll show you an easy way to find it. Write the sum twice: forward and backwards, under each other, like this:

1 + 2 + 3 +... + n-2 + n-1 + n
n + n-1 + n-2 +... + 3 + 2 + 1

Add these sums and divide by 2, since you've done the sum twice. It's easy if you add vertically before horizontally. Finally, multiply with x.
