VW's are fun cars to fool with. Fairly easy to work on but tend to be a little heavier on maintenance than I like. I had a '92 Jetta that was so much fun to drive.
Remember the old 'beetle's' that were transformed into dune buggies way back ?

Just saw a guy driving from work in a dune buggy. The closest beach is 600 km away

If you want to talk crazy, I want to turn the second in a dune buggy:) I'm going to chop the trunk and make a truck bed. Put it on a lift kit, big knarly tires, LED bar, winch--and in winter, a hydrolic ATV plow to plow my driveway with. Truck stacks out headers.

Get you some of that!

If you are legit, I want to see pictures or a video if you ever do it. That would be pretty sweet to see. The good part about VW's in my area is parts are easy to find and cheap, add in a few craigslist buys and you could have that done pretty cheap and quickly.

As for the LED bar, I placed 2 LED front mounted lights off the Bow of my boat for night, got a killer deal for them off Amazon... Under $15 USD.

The dune buggy idea is of course an homage to the old bug ones.

LT, I'm legit enough to have my local welderuper to give me a quote--$2g and a look like I was completely nuts:)

While we swapping v dub stories, my first car was 1975 scirocco, I had three golfs, and most beloved of all, a 1969 orange and white two tone pop top camper van, Gus The Bus, that I drove all over North America.

And followed Phish and even hit a Dead show in Vt...now thats a story I can't reveal here:)

Jesus for 2k better off buying you own used unit and learning on the fly, get some crap metal and just practice your welds. I want to find a old VW bus for hunting excursions but the value on them are scary!
