Voodoo is a very powerful thing in PG. With it you can add danger to someone's fleets in various ways making the ability to execute more attacks a reality. You can al reduce the danger one loses per attack.

Best to read the voodoo encyclopedia an learn what each card can accomplish.

You are right. High danger and not enough coin in his treasury (purse) to cover the ship ransom.

But there is voodoo that can add danger and dmg to ships too. Voodoo is king in this game. Review them all

Sorry if it's already been asked, but are gold bars made in anyway, as every port i visit seems to buy them for less than anyone port that sells them. are Gold bars profitable?

Goldbars are produced only by players (you can't, at the beginning, but it'll become possible later in your game, depending on what your strategy is).
You may think to trade them, buying where the price is low and selling in a different port but it is extremely risky, as your ships may get skirmished and you'd lose the cargo. Besides trading goldbars needs a lot, really a lot, of gold to earn a few change.

Edit- I was wrong. Gold Bars are only made by players. That seems weird though. As more players join the game and build hideout buildings, eventually there will be enough gold bars in play that it will cost more than what you can sell them for.

I stand corrected. I've edited my original statement. However, that seems really stupid. The more people that build GoldSmiths and sell Gold Bars, the more GBs are in the system, thus reducing the price of GBs. Eventually the price will reach the point where you won't make money off GBs as there will be so many in circulation. Just seems like a paradox of a game feature. There are only so many game features that require gold bars. GoldSmiths will eventually be not worth the investment.

and once no one is producing gold bars the price will rise making it worth it to make goldbars again its a supply and demand thing
