Port Diversity

Postby Donald Trump » Sat Nov 19, 2016 2:56 pm

This has been a topic for a while, and people will argue for days about how to solve it. So I'd like to give my solution to it.

Make it so the more ports a nation owns, the more influence they lose in those ports per day.

Such as, a person with a nation without a port loses 1% of his/her influence per day (standard)

A person with a nation that owns 1 ports loses 2% of his/her influence per day.

A person with a nation that owns 2 ports loses 3% of his/her influence per day.

More ports = multiplier

-------------

This would

1. Punish nations that try to take a majority of the map.
2. Make people hesitate about taking ports.
3. Increase diversity, some nations may think that some ports are not worth the extra influence taken off while other nations with no ports see it as worth it.

Interesting idea but have to go with -1 on this. Should be even across the board.

Might as well call this American Glory and set up a tax system. The more you make the higher tax bracket you will be in. But someone like SHM will surely find a loop hole and pay 0 taxes on his enormously large wealth.

Well it is either equality or diversity. And I find that this would greatly higher diversity. And it sure isn't equal to others when a nation owns 5x more ports than other; not that is wrong, I am sure the nation worked for them, but it certainly lowers diversity in port owning nations.

I do agree that I want more flags on the map too as it would bring more diversity and game play. But also think you kind of have to work for it just like the other nations. It takes time, gold, voodoo and a good team.

I am very glad USA seems to be doing well with their port and hope, as gold piles up, they try for a second.

I saw Russia take a port early in the day a few days back. Only to lose it before reset.
Some powerful players have joined non controlling nations. Could there be a port take over soon by someone new.
There are some in the game the have great influence and no port. Could they be talked into joining a new nation to take a port
Will Midway raise again. They could.

There is some stuff happening and it will happen sometime. Maybe just not fast enough for your liking... Or mine

I slightly agree with this idea but i think there does need to be an element of hard work in taking a port. I'm building myself up to be one of the strongest with the goal of taking a port solo. But more nations on the map would be a good sight.

-1 why would you punish egypt or spain just because they had enough man power, voodoo and gold to take ports. If you want diversity on map then join nation without port and take one. This is plain stupid idea. If we want diversity then we needs more perks of owning the port which will cause players to fight for one. Maybe when nations get abillity to chose who will be governor we can add some special bonus according to resource they produce for example thoraks produce best tobacco gold smithers work faster but that tobacco price is 25 gcs max and so on quality will be decided by the gold invested in ports from governors and for how long nation holded that port...

This is possible but you won't last long. Port control take multiple people. I do however wish you great luck in building Canada and taking a port!!

Not entirely accurate Shadowood.

With a goal as ambitious as that, I recommend that you talk to PhoenixKnight. He single handedly took multiple ports by himself and held them. He may have some good advice for you.

So you agree with countries like Barbados taking the entire map because they have all the voodoo? Even Bermuda's ports?

Of course this is theoretical, and not actually going to happen. But what if it did, would you support their monopoly on all ports?
