I'll give a quick example of 'silly prices' and their effects.

Currently, to buy 10 credits will cost about 2 to 2.4mil gc : to buy a Pouch of Gold in the voodoo market costs between 9 and 10.5 credits : but its best value is only 1mil gc, thats the most it can bring back. It's other purpose, to check a players purse size, is also rendered overly expensive, when considered as a cost in a raid, along with all the other over-priced voodoo required. Let's not forget, the purpose of a raid is to show a profit at the end of it!

Thats just one example of over-pricing, there are countless others. The high cost of buying credits amplifies that poor value.

So, when next the notion that we can be encouraged to attack more is raised, lets consider that it has to be a worthwhile exercise in the first place. Limiting the number of places which can buy and sell credits can only strangle a market : there is little incentive for radical price movements, the herd follows the best price it can get : that's not necessarily the best price for the game and its needs.

As long as there are fools buying pouch of gold for 10 credits, there is no reason to sell them for less :-)

Even with today's credit prices, there are certain cards I consider worth buying. And there is clearly lots of trade in the voodoo market, so I'm not alone in this.

With the current credit prices, people get more gc worth of credits when buying credits with dollars. So maybe it's more tempting to buy credits now?

It's a good period to sell credits.

Kinda misses my point, or maybe not : if its better value to sell your voodoo cards then you aint using them : your activity declines accordingly : If I can make more selling my ambush cards than using them, I do not ambush : it does mean the person buying them is getting poor value, but maybe they are happy to subsidise their need to hit regardless of profit taken.

I think folk dont consider the 'real' price they are paying in the voodoo market, or match it to the current credit/gc exchange rates offered by the few banks in that market.

I understood what you meant. And I meant that even with the current prices, I'm not selling my ambush cards, meaning I get more value using them than selling them.

maha may makes a fool of himself, but has to ask anyway.

where does new GC come from and where does it disappear?

the citizen tax of nations generate each day gc. (how much in total? what is the growth rate of that figure?)
hidden treasure and a few other cards make gc out of thin air.
are there more ways that new gc enters the game?

where do goldcoins get lost?
one could argue that the 1000 gc of inactive acconts are 'lost' and the gc from inactive pirates
certain transactions have a 'admin fee'
what other ways are there??

what Maha is thinking is that the steady influx of GC brings inflation. while credits are more scarce and either better regulated by the system (entering the game when bought with USD, leaving the game when turns are bought & booster packs are bought or by admin fees.)

too much gc in Avonmora will make the credit (a different currency) more expensive.

maybe it is not the credit that causes the problem but the rising amount of gc

The credit should not be selling for more gc than what one would expect to earn with those credits, regardless of the number of gc in Avonmora.

Apart from that, I guess the main gc drains are the hideout and buying influence.

another possibility is that less USD is converted into credits due to outside factors (e.g. christmas season)
when this is the case than admin can probably easily check this.

Aye hideout is the destroyer of gc... sometimes influence, but there really hasn't been much change there.

And once you get to 5million influence I believe its cheaper to use Charity Donation going higher... But I don't Math, as I have stated several times before. ;)

Edit: But think of Hideout as an investment of course.. You can never lose your buildings or research.. at least not as of yet.
