I was trained with a 9mm Beretta, and the m4 carbine...
I have a 5.56 AR variant at home... only cause I can't get an m4 as a civi.
7.62 is mostly AK-47... and the 357 Is too slow..
:p
As was I, however, I hate the 9mm Beretta. For a semi auto I prefer a 40. However for smoke trail, I prefer the 357 magnum revolver.
The M4 is a great weapon, but I'm partial to the M-249. Nothing feels better than laying down some automatic weapons fire.
And 7.62 is not mostly AK-47. Ak-47 fires 7.62x39. I guess you never fired a .308 WIN (7.62x51 NATO). The M14 is a great classic rifle or you can take the AR version AR-10 or AR-10B.
The 7.62 is far from just an AK Round. There are dozens and dozens of uses for the 7.62 mm bullet. All the 7.62 means is it falls within the 30 caliber family. Take a look at Wiki for the 7.62 family and you will see how often it has been used and where.
But on the topics of guns:
Revolver: 45 LC- Love the cowboy feel
Semi pistol- 40 s&w (Springfield X-D 40 is my EDC) But a huge fan of the knockdown power of the 10 mm.
Lever action- 45-70 Gov't, my deer and bear rifle BUT I do love shooting the Henry Golden Boy in 44 Mag even though I can't hit the broadside of a barn
Bolt: .308 Win currently, this has changed over the years as I have been getting more shoulder friendly arms to shoot all day.
Shotty: 12 gauge pumps or 12-12 over under
Small caliber- Huge fan of the 17 HMR as I have made some dirty long distance shots with that.
Muzzleloader: 2 Pyrodex pellets, 225-245 Gr Sabot and a basic 209 primer, nothing too hot as most of my kill shots are 25 yards and I was having a ton of through shots with little expansion. (Not that it mattered most were lung/heart)
Semi-Rifle- I bounce back and forth on this, but I will agree the 7.62x39 is my all time favorite, I had a AK variant that ate tula ammo all day and wasn't terrible on accuracy
