I agree with the sentiment that there should NOT be a flag on gold bar fleets. That is too risky and is not a good balance for the game. I say this as someone who plays the game as an opportunist and could benefit from the flag of gold bar shipments in the short run. In the long run, there would be little gold bar movement, which I see as very negative for the game.

In the time that I have been playing the game, I have seen a wax and wane of profit by hitting lit fleets and of casting voodoo to go after high value targets. The best profit for me was when traders were making and carrying a lot of gold coins. Then, my attacks could get me more gold. I see the flags for gold bar fleets only leading to fewer people transporting and profiting from gold bar fleets, which leads to lower profit for traders, which leads to lower profit for pirates.

I have to say, gold bar prices keep dropping. While I am still making profit, with this much change in pricing, I am worried we will see the prices in the 1900s soon.
It is already challenging enough for players to trade in gold bars without having prices drop so much. Other resources do not fluctuate that much.

Well, unlike other goods, gold bars are consumed by players, not ports. So it's a simple case of supply and demand. Too many goldsmiths and too few people buying will reduce the prices.

Perhaps your local Naval Combat Solutions Provider might have some nasty ideas which might help reduce supply and increase demand?

I cant see a solution to the problem : currently, the average sale price means you need a level 12 GS just to break even on bar making costs, never repay your construction costs. But the 8 levels above that give a massive increase in profit per bar per level ; so the high level smiths will just make more if prices go higher. But how newer players will feel it worthwhile to build 12 levels of GS and still make no profits is beyond me.

May be the gold bars need revamping. It feels a bit too much like inflation!

wait till the price drops to 500 gc. than leveling up is a quarter of what the old players paid.

Maybe deal between goldsmiths to stop production similiar like what they did with oil...

I know that for me this is good because I don't do that kind of buissness so cheaper I can get gold bars that's better ;)

maybe if the moving around cargo for others gets added they could add a way to drain the gold bars in avonmora like there being a gold bar fleet that lands in a port and takes home 2k gold bars or it could be a random event

Minimum bar making cost at lvl20 : you would lose over 1000gc every bar you sold at that price! And its not just the bars needed to level-up : there is a considerable billion or two in gc needed as well. Its a tricky balance to attain and keep : enough profit to reward the massive investment of thsoe already in the market.. enough margins to encourage new players to enter the market... like I said, I dont see the solution which will keep all sides happy...
