Yes, this will benefit pirates. And yes, it will make carrying more gold a more viable strategy. In fact, the reasons NOT to becomes too weak. For large traders, carrying lots of gold will become a dominant strategy, I fear. Even more so if booty master is capped. Booty masters need to have no limits, to make people be wary of carrying VERY much gold. Not only regarding plunders, but also to make people who get huge national payouts vulnerable.

As for plunders, the gap between a minimum defence and an amount which will give the max payout will be very small. So small, I fear, that carrying lots of gold is the only strategy left. That, or carrying only level 1 howkers and no gold, and hope people won't bother attacking only to gain level 1 howkers.

However, then I went onto this which started to get me a bit annoyed - As, again this " Plunder Formula " has been around for years and everybody has been fine with such only complaints have been in war. Ok... Ok... Make the ships lost level or sunk, half of it goes to us but a majority of the Merchants have Howker tales, so really what will we be getting? 4,000?

Again, this seem's to be it is only helping merchants. Merchants in the game " Merchants Glory ". 150,000 max plunder, seriously? You drop it by a full 100,000 gold coins? Yes, you did say " Yeah but you may make more " - It is a possibility, but not likely. As, they use Howkers for tales, it costs 40 turns for 5 Advanced Piracy to be cast, I think again making it a tad bit harder then it is already. Whilst reducing the stress for the Merchants.

Now, I just logged in a game and it appears to me ( I maybe wrong ) you guys are hoping to LIMIT the Booty Master % , as Haron said it takes a player to have a lot in order for it to be profitable of which you said not many carry such around. It is a rare event since you "Highered" the max amount shown to 50 Million - Which is another "Stress relief" for Merchants for them to become lazy. Now how many players have moaned about this? In my time only one possible player has moaned about this that is experienced.


As I said, I am all for helping the Merchants but it is a fine line between helping, and making it easy. The Ship Level decreased suggestion I thought was alright, you pushed me on this : Now changing the Limit to a max of 2 Million, is taking the piss a tad bit. Is this Pirates Glory, or Merchants Glory?

Now, I want to talk about my sadness - I have become really saddened due to the Administration team; Making such suggestions, which there current feature is fine, and has been fine for a while. In fact it has even become to a fine point of me not even bothering to post my Opinion, as this is Merchants Glory - No matter what you say. They are more Merchants then Pirates to a Fine Line. I feel, my opinion is not considered even more. Which is why I did not post until now.

If you really want to process this, and implement it that is fine - But you will see me to my finest destruction of players and the Player base. I would say I would quit, but we both know this is not happening, I will spend every Voodoo card to do so. Either way a great answer is needed.

Same can be said about your post... I wonder was it hard to copy Merchants glory phrase... I wonder was real author of this phrase got any reward as it is very popular term among people who likes to see themseves as pirates while all they do is abusing game mechanic because they don't real meaning of pirate

I have read all replies with great interest.
I think that Danik has a very good point that other players also agreed. There seems to be a risk of limiting viable strategies. This is something we do not like.

Let me propose another solution (This is a complete proposal):

Gold Coins formula remains as it is.

Defender loses Gold Coins Bounty
Attacker Earns Gold Coins bounty + Piracy Bonus + Sink Chance Bonus Plunder

Also:
Code: Select all
Advanced Piracy voodoo card awards an extra 3% per card, paid by the game


Piracy tech tweak:
Code: Select all
Piracy
Each level gives bonus income (+5k per plunder or + 3.5k per skirmish) per level from any successful attack (not defend). The extra funds are paid by the game (not the player who lost).



A new Technology:

Every level decreases max Gold Coins bounty per attack by 5k (Max 100,000 - So Max Gold coins bounty can go as low as 150k)

Another new Technology:

Every level increases max random amount percentage from the victim's treasury at hand by 0.1% (Max 2% - So, 1%~5% can become at best 3%-7% at lvl 20)


This way:
-We keep almost all new proposed buffs for attackers plus original great hand, except the random amount from hand which will need a technology to improve.
-More strategic options for everyone involved that will allow more playing styles by default (ie, a player with 200 ships will have to choose what to do; expand with more captains/ships or invest in greater safety?)

I like the idea of trying to ease the tension of CJ's part, but I agree with Nelson... To invest in these technologies enough to make them useful, you'd need a lot of gold and stuff, which in my mind would bind a pirate to voodoo even more to make more gold: the changes are in the sake of not limiting strategies, but in my opinion it restrains others in doing so.
