commerce tax

Anyone ever bring this up? A tax on the market, not a huge one, in every port. Could be set as a nation tax plus a port tax so different ports can have different rates. Small tax would add up. Would be interesting on how that would effect trade. Thoughts?

Yes, but not on goods being traded. You could lower and raise taxes to push certain agendas

+1, could be cool. 3 ports for every resource, it would see more of a competition between which port every resource is sold.
Not that I invest that much in resources... erm..

This already exists, but only for sale:

Taxes
-Every resource sold from the port market, returns 1% of the value to the nation that controls it.

I think having a similar 1% when buying too, would be nice. If my suggestion "Wars and Blockades" are ever going to be implemented, there should be more income from ports, as they will probably be harder and more expensive to keep.
