Wow...Wow...Wow.. Talk about a strategy changing event !
It don't affect some of the new players like it does with the old players who have learned to know who to watch and who does not need as tight a surveillance.

I certainly can see where this would be handy for some players but detrimental for others.

Pausing for further thought and implications.

Another question, what about join date and the new-player page?

What about people who hold records? Such as top 10 total losses and what not?

i dont think record holders would want their name to be changed anonymously at least.

maybe if u choose not to change anonymously but ur ID/name changed u can have a feature where if u type in their old name it shows their new profile for a little bit.

Current name: Sir Rishard Delrio (#456065) -didnt look it up, dont get mad lol-

Name after change: Sir Richard Delrio (#778)

Search: Sir Rishard Delrio

Results: Sir Richard Delrio (#778) was Sir Rishard Delrio (#456065)

It has been said before that a players reputation means a lot in this game.
I do not like the idea of being able to hide and change your identity,
I would find it difficult to trust new players knowing that they may be an old ememy in disguise.
In avonmora you must face the consequences of your actions, running and hiding is the cowards way.
I would often look to a players id number to judge how long they have been playing when weighing the risk of attacking them.
If you must lower id numbers to free up numbers for new players please keep them in the order in which they joined the game.
I don't know, it seems to me if they ain't got you one way they got you another,
So what's the answer? that's what I keep asking myself, what's it all about?
Know what l mean?

From what I perceive, this is an effort to 1) flush some long overdue inactives from the rolls, and 2) Keep the id numbers low as we gain more players. There will be a short period where players will hide and play with their ids, but eventually, it will be like putting lipstick on a pig - no matter how much makeup and lip gloss you put on, it is still a pig.

In other words, their true nature, activities and use of language will lead all to discover their former true identities again. We have seen it with those who have started new accounts after the old accounts were banned or abandoned, and it will be the same here.

In short, the issues and problems will be short lived -

That said, it would be good to be able to see the start date on the profile, though, simply to see who has been playing for how long. As for character name changes, it would be good to not only have a fame cost to the name change, but a gold coin/credit cost as well. Afterall, it takes a bit to dump an old identity and become known as someone else (Just my humble opinion.)
