Voting

Postby Haron » Mon Jun 13, 2016 11:59 am

How does the voting REALLY work? Can you vote on something that was suggested before you joined a nation? If you rise in rank after a suggestion was made, but before you vote, do you get the higher vote power? If you push down someone (like a King) who HAS voted, does his vote suddenly count less? If you rise in rank AFTER voting, does your vote count more?

Your power at the moment of the vote counts. If there is a King change and the previous king has already voted, then the new King will still vote as a king and the previous King vote will be normally maintained. You can vote at any moment of an open voting, regardless of your stature before or after (you can become a pirate after voting, your vote will still count).

So, in a list:
-Power at the voting time sets the number of votes registered.
-Registered votes are not updated in anyway afterwards.
-Voter's stature before and after his voting, is not taken in mind.

So, a group of players can "rig" this and vote as king multiple times for the extra votes. That's not something we should bother though; if players want to "rig" votings in this way and they can actually achieve this, then it should be up to the opposition to stop them. After all, "rigging" has an overhead cost (voodoo&gold) and require skill (organization mostly). Since real time elections are commonly rigged all over the world, this can act as a simulation.

I am not sure if "riggings" have taken place so far in Avonmora as I doubt anyone knew these details till now.

Thank you, Captain Jack.

One more thing: In the "National Diplomacy" suggestion, I noticed the following:

------------------------
Votings will be used once again. They will feature a new mechanism: premature ending when voting majority is met.

Procedure
An open X-days voting will open at proposing nation. The voting will need X days or absolute majority (If there are 100 available votes, the voting will close prematurely at 51 votes in favor). Once it is successful, a new voting will appear at the receiving nation where its citizens will be asked to Accept the Treaty or Reject it.
-------------------------

Will such "premature ending" voting be implemented? If so, how is it determined what an absolute majority is, since "new" players may rise in rank and gain more voting power? Is it simply determined so that if, at any time, anyone who hasn't yet voted would vote NO, the motion would still pass (due to previous YES votes), then an absolute majority is assumed? Anyway, if this IS implemented, I suggest a time limit even for "premature ending" voting. I suggest no vote should ever end until at least 24 hours after the voting started.

It's better to discuss details of the suggestion at the respective topic. The major reason is that I might tell you something here and when the implementation day comes, the dev team will not see this response and might overlook it.

For further assistance in your civil war or attempted coup, Avonmora's premier political conflict consultants, Danik and TLT, are available at reasonable rates : put our extensive knowledge of nation politics behind your team!

Bothered by rebels? Hate your King? Tempted by that Treasury?

Who you gonna call?

Sweet, I'll set a vote for the USA to pay for it :)

Oh, a new minimum pay-out has been put in place...okay 250k.. that should cover how many years, CJ?

If a treasury has 1 b,

250k still is not much.

That is what he is saying.

Meaning you are not helping the situations such as the ones in USA out.

I think thats what i tmeans.
