please note however I am just talking about the base influence, and am not including the obvious retaliation the owner of theses ports would do to keep there ports. if you factor that in, you might be able to take Portugal's port, and maybe one of Midway, 2 if your lucky. just an estimate though. I might be WAY off, since I don't know how strong Midway or Portugal is or how much they have in reserve.

wouldn't be much point in selling it to himself. sure he would gain a port, but hed have to be able to keep it for it to be any use, far more lucrative to sell it to a strong nation that can hold it and pay a decent price for it.

I'm tempted to ask who these sources are, but I doubt you would tell. interesting info though, granted no way of me knowing if its legit or not but interesting none the less.
