Color Coding Voodoo Card

I would like to see the names of Voodoo cards that are listed on our "View and Use Your Curses" screen to be color coded so that one can at a quick glance see whether a card will have a positive or negative impact. For instance:

A good card that helps out such as the Iron Golem would have its name coded in "blue font", while a negative card such as Swarm of Worms would be in "red font" since it has a negative impact by inflicting damage.

Of course there is an opportunity to have additional color coding for cards that don't make the "this or that" test of good or bad. But I'll leave that up to all to discuss.

I think this proposal would help the newer players to quickly grasp which cards can help another out and which should be considered in attack. Opening each card to determine what it does is an important part of learning the game, but some visual aids would help too.

Maybe a legend or key to clarify what each color represents. Just a thought

Yea, but maybe instead of color-coded cards, I would prefer an emblem beside the name

what would be the point of this? I had to learn and still have to what they are. color coding would ruin a aspect of the game.

The learning curve.

Disagree.

Color coding allows the player to ignore cards that do not fit the task at hand, but does not provide so much information that he/she could pinpoint the exact card they need. They would still need to review the cards to determine which one they need, if they are not familiar with the cards function.

Example: player needs a card to transfer gold coins to another player, but cannot remember the cards name or has forgotten. With color coding, the player can ignore all the bad cards and focus on the good cards to find the one he/she needs. Just a thought.

I was just thinking that it would be easier for a player to see, for instance, gold coins beside the name of "Generousity" than for them to learn what the colors meant.

Definitely, there is room for an icon element as well. I was not suggesting 14 million colors, just a bare minimum, at least 2 and it is easy to add a legend at the bottom of the view and use voodoo card page to ascertain what the color means. For instance in your example, the title Generousity would be colored "green" designating a card that is not harmful, but helps. Just helps players that do not use voodoo cards that often to ease their pain of figuring out which card to use.

Personally, I just don't see the need for something like this to be implemented. I would also find the card inventory cluttered and hard to look at if all the names were colored.

How one uses a curse determines if it is good or bad, not what the curse can do....

For instance, a Mindbar can be used both offensively and defensively. One can put a Mindbar upon themselves in order to prevent and deter attacks upon themselves. One can also place a mindbar upon an adversary, especially after casting hostile voodoo upon them, creating a barrier and making it difficult to remove the hostile curses.

Favorable winds is another - it be be used to speed up cheaper slower ships to improve profits, or it be used on an adversary to speed up his ships to trigger DR points as they come into port.

The best approach is learn what each curse does, and consider all of the ways it can be used - color coding will limit and hamper new players in what they concieve to how the card should be used, instead of learning all the ways a card could be used.
