Will these get an account terminated?

Postby Xepshunall » Fri Jun 29, 2012 2:56 pm

Captain Jack,

Please clear up these concerns for me.

I suspect this first one will get an account banned because it happened to the account of one of my sons. My youngest was playing long before I started my current account. He used my computer to play his game. I never suspected this would be a problem but it obviously is. Or can I say "was"? I should hope that my family can share a computer without a game problem. I have an older son that I plan to put to work expediting freight and I suggested that he try Pirates Glory to get a little recreational insight into freight relocation. Despite the high level of fun involved, there are some real-world learning experiences that one can take from playing.

The second, I am concerned about is whether it is a violation to trade ships with a friend for another ship or for valuable voodoo or to intentionally give a ship back to a player who you attacked for a reason that you later found was in error. There is obviously only one way to give away a ship. I have one that I would not if I had not jumped to a mistaken conclusion. I want to give it back to the victim.
Yesterday I gave my all. Today I'll give more. Tomorrow, I'll take back what you took for granted.

Multiplaying issues are hard to resolve therefore we are very strict with it. We are currently developing a system that will allow a family to share a pc with multiple accounts based on some restrictions and requirements. Till this is created, anyone with a family member, please send an email to webmaster@evdaimon.com with the details to get an exception.

Right now, only 2 exceptions have been given while the number of total banned accounts in last 2 months due to multiplaying is 180+

Regarding in-game actions between friends that have no multiplay revelance, we got the milking rule:
5. You must not MILK
Milking is a form of cheating. You are not allowed to take advantage of other players based on an arrangement. Both accounts will be banned.

This basically means that every account should play for it own best interest. The rest are not important.Fleet danger manipulation is amongst the most critical violations and we have permanently banned a top account last month due to such a violation.

We are also in the process of creating more transparent reports attached to each player in order to quickly and easily find any possible violation, also by the help of the players; we regard the playerbase the number 1 way to discover a cheater. We have released details about it some time ago: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=279

Since then it is true that we are doing a lot better with cheat cases, as the latest battles port report has eliminated any danger violations.

My accounts were terminated for multiplaying. Fair enough, I was experimenting with a new game I found and got burned, no big deal. Though I feel like I should point out, the screen where new players choose a ship implies that people have multiple account by stating one of the options is for pro players. How can there be a pro player starting a new account if prior players are not allowed to have another account? BUT, all that aside, my question is, having cleared the cookies, made a new email, and starting over with only one account, am I going to get booted again? If the penalty for multiplaying is effectively a lifetime ban, that's really sad. You have a great game here, but it's a pirate game and you have to expect pirate behavior. Anyway, I hope the measures I've taken have worked and that I can stay. It'd be nice if my wife could do the same on her computer. If not then, I guess "so long and thanks for all the fish."

-There are people who start over their accounts or players who return froma long time and want to start all over. We check these cases and we ban the old unused account. This is where the pro title fits.

-We do not check for new accounts of a former violator so we will not be banning your new account as long as it keeps the rules.

There is no excuse in cheating; everyone must play by the rules. There must be clean discern between the gaming role and the player; after all it adds to the value of the roleplayer when he can discern his role from his personality. Acting like a Pirate in game and when dealing for administration for example, is not only poor in ethics but also a poor roleplay.

I would also like to warn everyone before hand that we have banned paying players, we have banned top players, we have banned total newbs; The rules are same for all.

The bans are always negotiable. The initial ban is always a permanent one until further notice. This means that we do not issue a predefined ban based on a number of days but we are open to hear any arguments and lift the ban in case of a mistake or where we can see that there will be no future problems.

I want to make something crystal clear; There is no escape for someone that plays on the edge of the rule. We got 10 years experience in managing communities and hunting violators. We will not tolerate anyone who tries to cheat with one way or another. Trolls and cheaters have no place in PG; we do not need them, we do not want them and we will banish them as soon as they show their face. We can be extremely strict for those that play on the edge of the rules as well.

Regarding multi-play, we reserve the right to ban an account anytime. There can be no 100% way to prevent multiplaying. We cannot know if this extra account is indeed of your wife or son or brother and even if it is, then we cannot know if they keep playing all the way or if the 2 accounts end up played by 1 player. This is why we are heading to a solution where multi-playing won't be beneficial and this will be ensured by game mechanisms. The main mechanisms that need policing right now is voodoo card support and fleet danger manipulation. Both can be (also) policed by the playerbase and it is within our plans to improve such tools.

For the time being, multiplaying is not a big issue; It is easy to police it. Once the stable playerbase overcomes a specific limit, we will put more of our focus there. Right now, what is important, is to make the game bigger and all our resources are devoted there.

All that being cleared up, I will be glad to work more closely with you, Domo, if you like. Thanks for coming clean that you are a returning, banned player.
