Oops, I offered an opinion that is against the nature of the game...if you're not a pirate you are supposed to be a quiet sheep to be sheared. My apologies, I will probably be banned again just for thinking such things...

No, I don't think it's fair for you to steal the wealth generated by honest enterprise. I think it's more unfair to suggest that this is the preferred way of making GC and therefore remove all impediments from the dishonest while making it harder for the honest. So much time is spent talking about this game being realistic, when in fact pirates were hunted into extinction as evidenced by the lack or minimal number of pirates in the world today. While they do exist in some places, it is usually a pathetic and minimal existence.

But in this game, being a pirate gets you all the advantages.

Again, I am offering an opinion as requested by the thread, but because it's not PC I will probably be banned again.

I'd like to see ship customization - as we already have level 20 NPCs in the works, the ability to improve ships movement and battle abilities would be interesting.

A ship can be customized to be fast enough to send two cannon volleys to their enemy's one, or perhaps the ship is designed to outrun raiders, or additional cannons are added to send a massive volley, or speed is added to improve the ability to launch the first volley, or trade ships are made faster, or carry more cargo, or merchants are educated to add 10% to a ship's profit for the day.... and this is just a few ideas I can imagine.

All these would work nicely into the academy - the means in which it is done, I know not, but I can think of some fascinating ways to customize ships for battle and trade if "tweaking" and "retrofitting" some features of our current ship configurations were available.

+1 to this idea. Ship customization would bring a great element to the game and further distinguish players and their chosen roles.

What about crew casualties and experience points for crew, to distinguish land lubbers from experienced sailors, also battle experience for sea battles. That would work well with ship specialization as the quality of the crew should affect the ships customization. That would make battles more important as you wouldn't want to sacrifice a good crew on a dumb battle. Crew specialization! Specialize sailors, speed, boarding, fixing damage etc! Well, the crew being more important would go along with mags idea on the moral issue where the crew mutinies and becomes npc. A merchant ships crew might mutiny because they are not happy and become npc also. The possibilities are endless! might even make having mass fleets less ideal, dunno. Like in that pirate game from macbite, crew quality matters

I am thinking about defense cards. Something that ambushes attackers and protect you. Of course your defense gets lower with each attack but a combination of defenses give you stronger defenses and protect each other.

Yes, let us also get a card that defends you from being cast on forever! Just for all them cowards out there!

Well, I am only suggesting it because there are more attack voodoos than defense. Plus it is a pirate game. Sometimes ports and ships can make ambushes you know. It is not about bravery or cowardness or even greed. It is about fun and challenge.

I would like to see some specialized buildings for trade – these would be available through your hideout – there should be a building specific to each resource – the benefit of having that building would mean any trade brought into the port with the building would be increased by a percentage – say 5% for each level of the building – for instance, if your hideout was in Tortuga (which produces Tools) , you may build a level 1 Iron Smelter which increases iron – if you then received a shipment of 600 crates of iron in Tortuga you would get credit for selling 630 crates

The same would work in reverse for whatever the city produces – so if you built a Level 1 manufacturing plant (which increases tools) in Tortuga you would only need to buy 570 creates to fill up your fleet of 5 large merchantmen to trade 600 crates– there should be a building for each resource and a separate building for fish (ie, one for food and one for fish)

This would help to add to the benefit of having a hideout

While I don’t know any of the underpinning of the application, I would think it would be a reasonably simple development change to add as there is no real complex logic to figure out and it is localized to just the amount of resource being loaded/unloaded if the building exists
