(Rare) Eyes Everywhere - Suggestion

Do you have an idea for a card ? Do you want a tweak on existing voodoo cards? Perhaps you even want one of them removed? This is where you can post your suggestion.

(Rare) Eyes Everywhere - Suggestion

Postby John rackham » Fri May 11, 2012 11:55 pm

Title: Eyes Everywhere
Rarity: Rare

Turns Needed: 3
Curse Target: Fleet

Duration:
Until first use.

Description:
The target fleet has been betrayed by informers: its Danger Rating is set high enough to allow three attacks from the Plunder list (=54 I think at the moment).

The controversial bit: The "Call Leviathan" card is abolished and all existing CL cards are replaced with this one. This is proposed in the spirit of encouraging ship-to-ship combat and stopping them pesky Witch Doctors from sending good ships and men to Davy Jones' without having had a fighting chance.

It is a bit too powerful and can create dangerous combos too. Needs more.

It was proposed as a replacement for Call Leviathan (which is to be kept), I agree it is too powerful as a separate card.

Maybe instead it could raise the target's DR to +1, so that the target might appear on a port's plunder list - or might have to be patrolled for if that proposal (patrol for those not in the top 10) is accepted.

And with the Flip Coin and Piercing attributes?

If it is going to be Rare, it should at least pop it for 1 attack (Let's say 18 danger so you can combo it with Disfavor). You can then combo it with your other card ideas.

Piercing sounds a good addition. Flip coin may make it too weak for a rare. If we put Flip Coin it should be uncommon perhaps. Based on card type and if it has flip coin or not, we will need to decide amount of turns. 3 minimum and 8 maximum.

Also duration should be Instant; not sure what you mean until first use.

"First use" I should have said "instant".

I think of this as a Rare card, I want to hoard these up until I get into a serious fight with somebody and then go hunting for their most valuable or dangerous fleets. Not something to be splashed around all the time. With +18 DR and combination with other cards it would be pretty powerfui.

So maybe 3 turns (same as Call Leviathan), with Piercing but not Coin Flip?

Sure. I agree. Perhaps 2 turns more from Call Leviathan, due to piercing ability. So 5 turns. I'll add it to the forthcoming update list.

We have to consider the addition of new card ability that will prevent duplication perhaps. There are some cards that could use this in order to balance the odds. This card and call leviathan are the first to come in mind. Too early for this ability perhaps but we will keep it in mind for the future.

I just want a better name, if possible.

So a card that raises danger rating by 18 on the spot??

Lets say someone saves up 20 of these.. I could get hit 60 times within an hour and lose everything without even a chance of defending. Mix this in with current voodoo tactics and any player could be murdered in under 3 hours. Even players with a large voodoo stock would be unable to defend unless they miraculously log on in time.

I am completely against this idea.. but since I am reasonable I will suggest a few things

1) Only usable against fleets in a trade route
or
2) 25+ turn cost per card use
and/or
3) 50% chance to not work
and/or
4) Choose one of your own fleets as well, that fleet also gains danger

A good point, used in bulk it could be very destructive.

I like the idea that it shows your own fleets as well and it has a 50% chance not to work. People with high voodoo stacks already have too much power, lets not make this another way for them to get more. I suggest that this card does not come in a voodoo pack
