This thread is starting to remind me of an old television talent show called "The Gong Show" hosted by a guy called Chuck Barris.
Fond memories of a guy called the "Unknown Comic" . Wore a paper bag over his head and a suit about 3 sizes too small.

Contestants had a certain time to impress the judges or they would strike a huge gong and a big shepherd's hook would reach out and haul you off stage.

Not sure why this thread brings back memories of that show from the '70's
