Expressing a concern

Postby Roberts » Thu Dec 18, 2014 10:20 pm

I have noticed there has been many (bug reports) Even though i am not a administrator or anything....

I have a few questions: (For the Admins)

Admin questions (Captain Jack)
1)So you edit the forum that the player would post for example mine to say if it is fixed or resolved or anything? Adding to that it is obvious you hold power to the forums... from my very high IQ ;)

2)I am guessing with all these new items i have heard soon to be out... Or at least rumors of.... There is more Bugs in the game due to the coding that is going on to change it for fishing, gold bars ect? Or as i do not have A LOT of gaming knowledge of this game, it may of always been like this... I have great faith in the game know, never mind the new updates...

Just asking questions here...
Can delete this thread if you want...

Re: Alot of Bugs..

Postby Grogggy » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:09 am

um, I'm going to jump in here...

A lot of bugs? No. In fact, the bugs I report at least are partially because this game WORKS so well that any little inaccuracy sticks out.

I'm the toughest critic, but obviously I'm also the biggest fan...

If I had a constructive bit of advice, its that 4 days a week you code for future expansion/enhancements, but maybe take friday off, drink some Uzo and fix all these little crazy detail stuff that your players (myself included) seem to love to point out.

Peace!

-Not really a lot. We had like 2 proven (and fixed) in last week but overall we have only 8 in the whole 2014. 8 bugs in a whole year is an amazingly low number. I would call it a lot if we had like 20 a week and I would only be concerned if we had many fixes pending. This is the most important part after all, to FIX any bugs found and we are doing a great job here in fixing bugs in really short time.

To close it up, every serious application has bugs. The bigger it gets, the more bugs are probable to be found. There is no software that is bug free after all. Especially games are very prone as they are often pushed to the limit. Online games are even more prone. So keep calm and trust the devs who have taken you this long in such a complex game. 8-)

Now, on to your questions:

1)I use TAGS to organize topics in all forums. TAGS help me, you, other players and the devs to keep track easily of what is going on. In DEV forums, this is also required by the DEV team.

Every forum has a team that moderates, same here. I am the admin and there are also player who are moderators. Here is the mod team: memberlist.php?mode=group&g=4
The mod team, makes sure that the forum rules are kept:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3
The mod team, also helps in organizing the forums. This includes topic title renaming (I do this a lot, I just did this here as well). Topics must be descriptive and to the point and not provocative if possible.

2)You should not be worried at all. Bugs will definitely be the case, but I am confident there will be few of them and we will fix them on time.

Bugs is bugs... this game is remarkably free of them.. some games are total nightmares : but to put in context... Microsoft have 1000's of code monkeys and work with software that been around for years and developed accordingly : just as an experiment, on my back-up lap-top, I switched off auto-update ; after 12 months, I can see 4 gigabytes of updates waiting if I ever turn it back on... yeah, I'm scared too...
