How long will it take you to get this knife out of my back where you left it?

Well, because people seem interested, keep in mind I fill the warehouses with raid profits in real time. I have made 30 million disapear without spending a turn. So in a cost analysis, you would have to say I'm playing with house money.

Then, yes, it takes a while to switch it all up. That why I refer to such fleets as "drone" fleets--literally ones you set and forget. Over time, they will do the job.

So whats a good drone fleet? For a long time I ran 4xlg fluyt+1hawker. level till sails=10. No, I did not invent this.

I did invent what I use now, though, maybe that will be next weeks discussion:)

This week we tackle what Roileon so brightly brought up last week (he's like the kid in the front row always raising his hand, lol) WHAT DO YOU DO FOR CASH?

Sure the card swap is the best game in town, but its slow and take a fair amout of upfront cost. What DO you do for cash in the meantime?

Well, continuing on the pirate tip tip...you build banks.

I know banks are coming in the game (I guess) but you can build your own in the meantime.

Again two warehouses, but this time make them expensive commodities like iron and tools (gosh, what 4 ports would be great for this). Stack them with raid profits and again assign a drone switching fleet.

Here's where it gets interesting. You can set the behavior of the drone fleet to represent the financial footing you want to project at that time.

For example:

1) You need cash. You set the drone to get at warehouse, sell at next port. Because you've already prestocked (prepaid), deposited, this is sheer profit at both ends. Demographics page here we come!

2) You don't need cash at all. You set the drone to store at each warehouse, effectively rendering the commodities fully liquid--at any time and without turns you can sell for cash.

3) Market. Maybe that run has a legit great numbers without a card swap and you've stocked your warehouses as much as you'd like, your sitting pretty, a simple change of options isn't even neccissary if your warehouses are full, the drone fleet will automatically start buying on its own.

4) variations--I use drone "banking fleet" (I call them Tillie after the first ATM machine I ever saw) to keep a constant flow of gold comming in to cover upkeep, but also as a defensive measure to make sure if I'm raided when I'm not online, my fleets are generating some cash to keep me in ransom-ok zone.

5) advanced notions--the drone fleet itself can be a form of money laundering/banking. Use upgrades to stash cash! You can sell the ships off as needed. Tailor the grade of ship to your cash needs...

Till next time!

Cappy out.

I always liked the way u teach... its always interesting. One of those things u thought me about trading between 2 ports im using it now. Glad Sebastien Dumont reminded me about it.

You know, when this thread first started it was all about taking a punch.

At the time, my fleet (and skills) were in retrospect, laughable. But, it was a learning curve steeper than most I'd reckon.

Important skill, taking a punch.

Then I learned to deliver a jab, then a stiff right, then a knockout combination.

SOMEWHERE you'd think that the collective world here would get the notion NOT to try to muscle me. Who has survived that? Guilds, countries, superpowers, dictators--the corpses are obvious and public in my wake.

If I come knocking, its generally for a surgical purpose. You have the highest fame, I want to try a card swap for cash/fame, what, who loses anything?

But wow the ego's in the game. HINT TO TRADERS--I don't know any pirates that respond well to intimidation--remember, we are the wolves, you are the sheep. Better you lay your fatted lamb and our feet and stumble back into the darkness...for the Wolf Howls Tonight!!!!!

posting attachments in threads is unec. difficult. the 45 kb limit prevents me from posting high quality content. ur argument wud have been shown as invalid, but alas. no picture. so here's a poem.

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock'd them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

-The Pirate King,
Ozymandias
