but moving on to the issue already decided,
these "influence" based cards, like so many others are a sign of an in game problem. it creates a major discouragement for some players have the ability to raise their "influence" numbers into the hundreds of millions, while the others are scraping just to finish 1 or 2 nations missions. it basically tells those in that second group of players to pay up or give up, and most choose the 2nd option. there are players who have elected to fight for this stuff anyhow, like weazzel and, more recently Sky, but there is a massive trend in this game where people elect to do battle with the pay to plays over influence, then get smacked down by someone or someones who didn't even break a sweat, and they then quit the game. PhoenixKnight in Hannes and Weazzel in Newland are the best examples here, but there are more.
the sheer fact that most players have just folded to barbados unconditionally speaks for itself. it's a Terrible in-game-goal if players aren't persuaded to want it. <10 players bothering to try for this "goal" over a scope of years and tens of thousands of players is just bad, and this badness is compounded by the fact that most of those <10 quit shortly after their attempt.
on the plus side, it is possible that the promised "foot battle" mechanic might convince new players to make an attempt at this.
however, if there is an easy, pay to play solution to any attempt made, it will fall into the same hole that previous influence cards have fallen into.
i typed up a solution then another one. but they wont be in this post because i honestly dont have a Good solution to offer. im sure something can be fashioned though. cuz i have faith.
