I say these pirates have a pretty good business plan, actually. Invest as little as possible in ships, turns and voodoo, and look for an opportunity with the greatest haul while taking into account retaliation costs. I don't particularly like it, but I do respect it as a business model that affects my bottom line at times.

It is risky for the pirate, as their only true allies are other pirates. They have worked hard to make it as pirates. Most of 'em I know have hit a small jackpot now and again, and they have also lost it all and started over again. (I can't say that about many traders.)

The secret to avoiding piracy is don't be a business opportunity to pirates. Reduce there risk-to-reward ratio as it were. The old ways of retaliate them to the waterline doesn't work anymore. So reduce their rate of return and raise their risk of loss. Start using some imagination and experiment.

Pirates adapt and change, and are constantly working their business, lookin' for their edge. It is now time for traders to do the same. The game, after all, is called "Pirates Glory."

for what it's worth, pirates are very rarely allies of one another.

I follow this thread closely, but I'm still a little unsure what a "Scum Lord Pirate Strategy" is.

I was prepared to be offended, but I think he means when a guild goes pirate with all capital ships, of which there is only one, PK.

If that's the arguement, I tend to agree. Sol and Mow are simply NOT pirate vessels, not historically nor practically. They shouldn't be allowed to pirate with them, especially if as an actual pirate of the pirate nation, I'm not allow to own MOW.

I still say pirates need a couple of our ships, one a sort of trader/raider with big cargo space and medium speed. A few rule changes could help too, I'll do that all in another thread.

But if this thread here means its scummy that say we at Zom B use little ships and all that, after just having my caps stolen for like the 5 time, you simply can't have big expensive ships like that because we are under constant attack. At some point I have to sleep, and I sleep much better if I have few BOW on the board and not 200 million worth of heavy shipping.

Anway, I could talk about scummy traders who trade big, but then use their heavies to bully pirates, talk about scummy....

Yeah I was specifically talking about PK. When pirates do this with small ships at least there is some risk involved but when it comes to PK they dont have anything to worry about. No pirate with capital ships can be that heavily damaged cause the can just sell a ship and have 13mil gold.

We were able to take or destroy several PK capital ships. It can be done.

But to your point, we immediately lost them and even so the victim had replaced them before the day was out.

They quite obviously have an internal rule that no other pirates are to be allowed capital ships.

Its a monopoly of sorts and as I've posted before, it gives the games a "clogged up" feel. My fix was a random weather event everyonce and while--I could easily stand to lost 50% of my fleet--50% of Rolando's fleet is many hundred of millions.

Oh and that they give their Noobs a SOL is particularly gauling, rubs salt in the wounds to see some brand new player sailing by in a ship I'm apparently never can use.

other people are allowed capital ships.... we just don't allow YOU guys to have them. And it's not surprising with your mouth, that other guilds and game players won't let you build up either... check it out, i'm playing the worlds smallest violin *rubs fingers together*

Ship abilities forthcoming huge feature should also affect this chapter of the game. Ideas on how exactly are always welcomed of course.

Other than this being a crappy rant again Skyhawk being some sort of Scum Lord, I see no point to this and don't even consider it a suggestion.

I vote send to Discussion Archive.

Agree with dez. Discussion archive, clockwork

Third the notion - Skyhawk

Agreed to moving to discussion as archived - Vane
