That's kind of the Point here Lola. There has to be a balance between Traders and Raiders for that to work.

Exactly and it's balanced in favor of the traders enough already. What more do you want? If the scales tip any more in favor of traders no one would play such a boring game. No point in selling ships because they won't be sunk. No point in voodoo. They would be absolutely useless. Most people here cast only 2 HNs instead of three nowadays anyway. One won't do sufficiently enough.

I think part of the problem is that certain players are starting to overraid the same players. Combine that with the fact that many of the raiders don't even have anything to hit back on, it really drains the fun.

Eventually, there will be a breaking point when you overraid the same players. They will change their setup to be smaller, more protected, and less profitable to raid. Then you screw over yourself and other raiders. Or even worse, they may give up and leave or just stop with trade ships. That's even worse.

I think a lot of raiders these days don't understand or don't care about the risks of over raiding. Maybe they want the game to crash and burn, maybe they just want to cause some trouble, who knows. But I have noticed a sad trend of folks casting HN"s just to light someone up and not even raid them themself and have next to nothing to hit back on.

HN's are pretty cheap, and while you can counter them by pausing your fleets, that's an entire day of trading wasted. Clearing them is not cost effective, and MB's are certainly not cheap either-plus not exactly hard to cast past a MB with HN"s. Seems to me that some raiders are more out to just block profit rather than actually raid a player.

You can make a ***** load of money just by having plantations and no ships. Hopefully next update will be the ability to raid plantations.

You know We can go back and forth forever on this subject. It's been done to death before.

Mel there just is not enough traders to raid to begin with. Barely that many players. Overfishing I think at this late stage in the game is a moot point.

not if you're a newbie you can't. Most newbies need to work up to plantations as those are serious investments. Sure once you have a proper plantation setup, you could retire from ships and just run off that and the resource market, but that only works so long as SOMEONE delivers the needed goods. If everyone decided to do that, and completely abandon ships, then the resource market WILL dry up real quick. The fewer merchants who run ships, the less targets for raiders, and the less goods are being moved around. So raiders need to understand not to over raid.

There are still more traders then raiders far as I know. Can't be that hard not to over raid. Besides, you keep over fishing, what few traders are left, will change setups or move on. Then what? Start raiding the raiders? And after that? Raid the air?

For the record, I have no problem with being raided. So long as it's not constant. Especially if the person raiding me, has things I can hit back on.

But being lit up by someone with next to no ships, who doesn't even hit my fleets he lights up? that's just boring to me. Can't hit them back, and it just causes me to miss a day in trading and maybe a few battles.

That's my issue with many of the raiders nowadays. Nothing to hit back on, and overfishing. Have some guts and run a few sotl fleets. Actually, RAID the folks you cast on. And don't overfish.

Help newbs build up fleets, teach them proper fleet setups, and HOPE that raiders don't overfish on them. Otherwise those newbies will eventually go the route of ditching ships for a plantation.

Hell, I would never be caught with more then 200 ships, it just aint worth it. Not with how some folks overfish these days. Used to be if a person had 500 ships, that would be a good target to milk once in a while. But between plantations and over fishing the days of the mega traders are dead. I just hope when plantations can be raided, folks don't over raid them.

Most people also hide the yummy ships in the marinas too. Oh yes ah don't forget the MOWs that never see the light of day. Hmmm. I think lots of people are stuck in a rut. Go after easy targets because the hard ones are expensive lol
