A persons experiences or beliefs never bothered the common sense. Your freedom stops where another persons freedom start. Joking about someones beliefs ain't a joke. When someone is sick and might be praying to this God, seeing someone joking about this, isn't a pleasant feeling. I know mama's jokes. Noone of you accept people talk about your mama though. I understand that. God supposed to be our father and creator something way beyond and you think it's ok? Especially in this time of year, I see it like a patern. People mocked and crucified Jesus 2022 years ago. But till today people still mocking him and keep crucifing Him. Some things are not jokes. Let's talk about your dead siblings and laugh.

A joke is just that- a joke. My friend jokes with me about my mom, and she's dead. I really do not mind. So by all means, feel free to make a joke about my dead oldest brother. I have thick skin. Even when i was religious, i would make jokes about my own religion. I like to think if there is a god, he has a sense of humor.

Humor can be offensive at times. But at the end of the day it's important to remember it's just jokes. Not everyone will find something funny but people should have the right to make those jokes.

with all respect... I didnt post it bc it mocked your beliefs... I posted it bc as Lolita stated.. it was more of a 'Dad joke" .. therein was the humour.. this may be something that appeals more to an Aussies sense of humour, idk.. but for me the fun was in a typical exchange btwn a father and son ...

Its all a bit subjective and wrapped up in personal moral issue ..

It wasn't posted to upset anyone nor to be controversial. I did a moments consideration if someone may be offended, but hoped all could see the fun in it and not the perspective you have taken. I do understand you may be offended but as there is malice intended, I do not feel to apologise. I am sorry you feel the way you do. Its a joke. Something supposed to at least garner a bit of a smile..even if it is only a piratey smirk!!

I also believe God said to leave the judgement up to him. ??? lol

I do not wish any apology towards my face. I understand the sense of humor you are trying to pass. Although as a subject is out of limits for me and many people around the world. That's why politics and religions are prohibited from games. You are free to feel as you wish and be sorry or not. It's your life after all and the judgment applies to all of us in separate. As it concerns me i feel the need to speak when I see jokes for the One that sacrificed His life for us. I don't even want to imagine be the one making the jokes. From my point of view is just sad watching a child making fun of his parents and thinking is cool and funny. There is something called respect and is thought from home.

I mean, you can have respect for your parents and still poke fun at them. My old man was a funny old geezer, who loved self deprecating humor. He'd make jokes about himself all the time, and would laugh when i joked with him. Intent is a big part of what you say. When i say for example, my old man was so old he went to work on a dinosaur, he'd know i was joking around and still loved him. He'd even laugh. Course, he was like you-didn't like jokes about god that mocked him, so out of respect I kept those to myself. I won't share any of those jokes with you either since you don't like them. Sorry you had to see one.

Edit- of course folks may also have different relationships then I do with their parents. some parents expect politeness and respect all the time and no jokes at their expense. My parents were just big fans of humor and didn't mind being the butt of the joke. Nor do I.

Perhaps you are assuming that bc a person may find a joke about God humerous that they don't have a good relationship or dont respect him..?

While I may express 'God' a little differently to you does not mean I do not have God in my life.. bc I do .. very much so ..

Religious/Spiritual views are a very personal thing and its ok that one's beliefs and ideals may differ.. Altho centuries of war would have you believe differently -

My understanding is God loves us all .. regardless of anyone's sense of humour, and God knows me better than I know myself - so he does know where I'm coming from and that it is only considered disrespectful if you personally think it so - the next person who has God in their life may have viewed it differently and had a good chuckle, as did I...

I didn't mean to offend you Argo. As you said God love us all despite our mistakes and he knows us better from the inside. Exactly as you said Religious views are very personal and personally I don't mind if mine differs from another, but because there is a very thin line between joking and mocking, I prefer to leave some things unsaid just in case I might be making a mistake. Centuries of War about religion taught me that people become furious about their beliefs. As for the jokes I believe there is a time and place for everything. God and jokes don't go together in my opinion. There is no joke for the One without sin, for the One that loves us all despite our mistakes, for the One that died to save us. You don't go to a funeral to make jokes. And this week is exactly this. The way to the crucifixion, the buried and the ressurection. I find your joke out of time and place, without judging your intentions.

again, i must disagree somewhat. Some funerals jokes are to be expected. My father for example didn't want a sad funeral. So I told a joke at his. Some people would rather their loved ones move on and find joy again after their passing. Again though, not everyone would agree. Some want a proper sad funeral. As you said there is a time and place for things. I wouldn't tell a joke at a funeral unless I knew the person wanted a jovial light hearted funeral.

I knew my father fairly well however. I once told him when he was gone I'd pour some pepsi on his grave as it was his favorite drink as a bit of a joke. Crazy old man told me don't waste good soda, drink it first, filter it with my kidneys then give it to him . But back on topic, yeah, I understand where you're coming from, I hope you understand our side too. Again, won't make any jokes about religion to you, I always respect folks when they tell me what is or is not off limits to joke about.

And despite your intentions, word by word, it is mocking the relationship between God and Son. If you cannot understand this bit, it's like you stand with Russian cause have intentions to save, you stand with paranoids cause they think killing is saving. And you stand with every idiot who believes whatever as long as he has good intentions for himself. Of course the intentions matter but we always examine the action first. Anyway this is just my opinion. I wish this topic gets deleted with all the conversation. I do understand your perspective Meliva. I just don't share it. I can make jokes with everything else but this.

And it's not bad to stand with whoever you want. I do the same. People are free to do as they please. I believe there are some limitations though so we can all live in peace together.
