So why would a so-called 'barfight' forum be any different? Still subject to rules so how is it different to how UoH runs? Plainly not at all so why make that space when the existing space aint fit for purpose.

This is what we are addressing - suggestions on how we can do it better so its more fun for all .. We dont need to keep rehashing what is already known or perceived .. can we look to what we may be able to do about it instead?

Here is a set of things sent to me by an source who will not be mentioned

"Here are some reasons the forum died:
1) Trolling is tolerated. This is reason number one.
2) Forum threads get hijacked by trolls. Fix 1, and you fix this as well.

3) Enforce the rules, and they would be banned.

4) Few players are actively playing. This affects the forums, and vice versa.
5) There are lots of balls in the air when it comes to new things in the game, but we have not seen anything new or heard anything specific from the devs in a long time. Why discuss game rules when nothing happens, and there already are a bunch of "approved" suggestions which are not implemented?"

Why cant we enforce the rules already in place? Its like you see on the news, "We need new laws to make those that dont follow the current laws come in line" Why not just enforce the current rules? The forum is supposed to be "Parley Style", Union of honor is supposed to be "barfight style". We can make 1million different places, but if no one enforces the rules, it wont matter... forums will still be dead.

Trolling/Flaming is only tolerated in UoH.

By creating another space where the rules are to be ignored? How does that benefit the rest of the forums? The toxic elements wont simply migrate to the new space, they will just add it to the space they already fill.

Sure, SLACK is more open to colorful commentary, trash talking, etc., but even there it isn't entirely rule free. And even then you have people complain about it. "I don't go on SLACK because ......"

The issue is folk don't like spaces where they can be freely insulted or abused : for whatever reason. So : fix that first.

Where do people get freely insulted or abused? You mean in UoH? Where it is notated that if you are easily offended don't engage on those topics.

1. That people come here to play a game
2. As a general rule, people dont like being personally targeted
3. TOS violations NEED to be punished in accordance to the rules of the game
4. If someone has an issue with it they can leave cant be the solution to the forums and game dying?
5. Trolling is not allowed
6. Greefing is not allowed.
7. We are here to have fun with each other

If we can start by agreeing on this maybe we can start looking for solutions. But it starts here. Anyone?

I agree with Danik. There is no need to create a new forum or subsection. The forum has rules and even though some of the rules are relaxed in UoH, the rules still apply. Creating a free for all forum does nothing to address the actual issues with low player involvement on the forums.

Dez, come on buddy... how many times have we had dedicated posts to this very topic? This isnt a new thing, forums are a place where fun things go to die in a slew of vicious back and forths that have nothing to do with the initial posts and have become such a toxic place that only a few dare venture in unless they are looking for a fight.

This is a game which means this is a business, this is not a way to run a business. The forums arent for only the strongest willed to enter, its supposed to be a place to meet and play with your fellow gamers. This has been getting worse for a while now... That is why we are here right, to try and fix it?

The invite link could go to UoH could it not - UoH Barfight ..

Clicking the invite would just take you there by your own choice. You could have a notification telling you what the subject the inviter wants- Parlay could continue in the original thread if this were implemented - You don't have to accept. Maybe having a little more measure of sense of control by having a choice could help? You could then choose your battle rather than be forced into it. The original thread stays pure. This could stop derailing and highjacking and while fires can be lit there, whether we fuel the flames is our own choice - press accept or ignore button.
