I post when I feel like it but don't have much incentive and I don't see how anyone else has save to biatch or troll.

Serious discussions on the forums get waylaid way too easily for the simple reason attacking the poster needs far less thought than rebutting their posts.

You can follow the threads and watch the process and these days it seems to take far fewer posts to move from 'I disagree with your point' to 'You smell funny and **** pigs'.

But that's what some folk seem to think constitutes reasoned argument. Can't blame those who don't think that for deciding its easier to just ignore the noisy brats at play, turn up the Wagner and read a good book instead.

(*) yeah, I know some think that is a euphamism for the female parts, it may well be in a small corner of the entirety of the globe but then every culture has such euphamisms. In my culture the word 'twat' denotes an empty-headed fool. Its origin is Anglo-saxon and it means a large empty space.

It doesn't matter that there is an alternate meaning, the word has a specific connotation and thus even in UoH is unacceptable.

Dez : opening a can of worms there : lots of words carry connotations in different cultures that are otherwise perfectly harmless when used in another. If we are to judge our usage purely on the basis of what does a specific small corner of the globe think they mean then fair enough, just brings to mind the thought as to why that specific small corner of the globe gets to decide such matters for the rest of us.

The original meaning is not the problem, the common usage of the term in the culture it originated in is not the problem : it's the alternate connotation given it by a third party culture that is the problem.

PS : Pirates Glory is registered in Europe. Maybe it's their usage that should take precedence and not any other places.

Guess you'll have to ban mentions of certain place names as well... they have the same origin. Mind, that has already happened with some FB pages for those towns civic functions getting removed for such offensive terms.

absolutely i mean you have argued the word in the past several times according to you but since cj doesn't pop in as often you felt you could now use it despite knowing the owners view concerning it and joining in on the reporting of it as a guild
so obviously its daniks rules above all others
you can form opinions of others and voice them all you like denigrating them in a negative way and its all good .... until someone does it to you then it becomes wrong
