Veera just takes a breath as she puts her head in her face before saying rather angrily

You bloody fool. What in the 9 hells does necromancy have to do with any of this? Do you think the reason the Hawthornes are upset with you is because of the type of magic you're using? Or are you just depressed because they didn't shake in fear when you used it? Regardless, pointless topics like that aside, you should learn to either not get involved in things you don't understand, or seek help when you need to do so.

She looks at him a bit more calm but still upset

Honestly, what exactly was your plan anyway? Were you hoping that by showing off a display of power, you could scare them to do what you want? Because that rarely ends well.

he sighed.

I thought I'd dealt with folks like Melissa before. Some only respect strength... I took her for one such person.

Veera sighs annoyed

Okay, so two things. First- you shouldn't assume anything about people you don't personally know. Second-even people who respect strength, don't typically like it, when you use that strength, against them and cause them trouble. They were literally having a party, and you showed up out of nowhere, and the first thing you do when she comes to talk to you to make sure you don't cause any trouble, is you go and cause trouble.

That does not make for a good impression. It makes it seem like you have no intention of listening-which you clearly didn't. Not to mention, even if you DID prove you were strong, that doesn't mean they would help you. You can respect someone's strength and still hate their guts. Sure, you showed them you are strong-you also ruined their party, and completely ignored their warning. So they probably really dislike you at this point.

Then this world has changed considerably. This is why I was so reluctant to help. I always do more harm than good.

Veera just looks at him very annoyed

Mate, it seems like you never understood how this world works period. If someone were to say, respect strength, that doesn't mean they would enjoy or like it if someone beat the crap out of them. That's not how people work. It never has been. No one has EVER, seen someone cause them trouble, and think to themselves "well that person certainly is being a right pain in my arse, but boy do I respect that strength, so I should help them if they ask!".

You do not make friends or allies, by causing people trouble, and expect it to work out just because you proved how "strong" you are. That has never worked in history, at least not for long. Sure, you could overpower people and get them to work for you, but that tends to make them despise and hate you. I could for instance grab a gun, put it to someone's head, and get them to do what I want, but if they got a chance to kill me, guess what? Odds are, they will kill me the second they get the chance. Because sheer power and brute force alone can not make true allies. Honestly if you would just stop being so damn cocky, and ask for help and listen to other's, you wouldn't make so many messes. You literally told me you knew what you were doing. Don't bloody say that, if you don't actually know. Because when you say you do, and you muck up, you just make an ass of yourself.

Fine. I don't know. I have no f**king clue what I'm doing! If you want, I can just go back to my bloody mansion, and stay out of your bloody hair! It isn't like 500,000 mouldering corpses can do much against an army of billions anyway.

Veera just shrugs

Yeah, that would probably be for the best honestly.

Emily sighs

I mean, look Gaster, we could probably come up with some ideas and plans to make your undead more powerful, or something. Honestly it helps to stick with what one is best at. Veera is very good at talking and dealing with folks, I'm very good at making golems and other things, you're good at necromancy. If you want to learn how to do things other then what you're good at, you should really listen to and work with folks who are good at it. I would go to Veera to learn how to make deals, rather then try to learn it by myself.

And why would Veera help me? I haven't anything to repay her with besides old enchanted armor and weapons and artifacts and such.

Emily just shrugs

Payment is payment. Veera could probably take whatever you have to offer, and use it for other deals. Besides it's not like you need to be able to do what she does. I mean, Veera teaches me some things, but for the most part, I let her handle deal making and diplomacy. I trust her to do it, and I know she's good at it. Likewise, I share some things about golem making with her, but she mostly let's me handle and do all the creating, because she trusts me to do it, and knows I'm good at it.

Veera just nods

Yeah, I'm sure I could do something with those items, so if you REALLY want to learn how to do diplomacy and deal makings, I can try to teach you, if you're willing to actually listen and learn. However like Emily said, nothing wrong with sticking what you're good at. Or letting someone else handle something while you support them and watch and learn.

I like to be able to do as much as possible. Besides, the junk is just taking up space in my ballroom.
