I would be fine with that as long as the first nation they can chose doesn't require a mission to become a citizen. The no mission requirement would have to be limited to say the new player protection period. After such a mission would be required like it currently is required.

Something like getting the black flag would be a viable solution and prolly the best one from a newcommers point of play but it may involve fooling with other essential game metrics like bank availability or ability to receive loans or interfere with the tutorials etc. with a host of unforeseen glitches that could happen as a result.

Changing the wording I doubt would have any effect on the sub-routines involved but only the Devs can answer that.

You can still access banks and loans while a pirate. Piracy just prevents you from accessing your own bank. But I get your point. Something of that nature would need to be checked to see if it breaks the tutorials. With that being said, I think if this is considered, the tutorials should also be reworked. I haven't done the tutorials in a long time, but if they are still the same as when I joined 3+ years ago , they need to be updated.

Approved

This is actually a suggestion that touches a very critical part of the game and is very relevant to what we are currently doing: improving the game for newcomers.

I have read all the posts here for the first time and gathering from the ideas above, here is a proposed form:

1)The dropdown list caption changes from Choose your Nationality to Choose Nationality for your Player Character

2)The Drop down menu will change in style and it will generate the first top 10 nations based on INFLUENCE (not fame).

3)For top 10 nations, a specific title will also be displayed. Titles will not be custom predefined. The Rightful King will be able to pick the relevant title, like Banking. We should compile this list first. If we cannot compile such a list, we can go with a custom title, set by the Rightful King at the Chamberlain.

4)When the player selects a nation, the game will pull up the following details, right next to it:

a)King name and avatar (if none exists, it will mention No King)
b)If the King is rightful, it will also display a custom message which the rightful King will set through the chamberlain. It will appear as a message from the King.
c)A few demographics for the nation, we need to decide which..

Number 1 of the suggestion will be implemented right after I finish this message. The rest can be prioritized but they will also need a redesign of the character creation screen. Before this can happen, we need to agree on the final form.

Let us know if I omitted anything important to you or if you have anything extra to add.
If you agree on the proposed form, let us know.
If you can propose titles for the custom list or propose which demographics should be included, let us know.

If these tweaks can improve player retention by 1% even, it will be time not wasted.
It's been 5 years since using those screens so I'm sure those proposed tweaks will make ground but I'm certainly not qualified to argue or even suggest any changes to what is proposed.

One small issue could be if there was some sort of bug or irregularity accidentally inserted as a result, a new player will not know if it is a bug or a feature. Extra care should be given.
