It's 4 rounds of up to 3 votes per round.

Back to the idea, I think what you want most is something like a Karma system or sorts. Not sure that any system that allows you to express your negativism towards a player is right though. If you have a problem with someone, go attack him. :arr :hh :cannon

Or one can post a topic in Union of Honor. Negativism portrayed in words can be more effective than plundering ones ships.

+1 If this gets implemented, there are a few things:

1) Shouldn't be able to cast on oneself.

2) Players should be able to see their own top helper points. (If you aren't on the top 15, you can't see how many points you have)

3) Players should be able to search other players to see their points. (Maybe just change it from a top 15 list to a list of all players and their points sorted by points.)

I thought it would even matters up and also keep that seemingly vital element of the game : what you have gained, you can also lose. Starting a war is not always an appropriate response to an event which might warrant a small reproof at best. Likewise, sending credits or coin is not always the appropriate way to thank someone for a kindness, it smacks of mercenary motives. As I previously said, originally I thought it should have no effect beyond the event message itself. But I then considered that the Top Helper award needed gingering up a bit and a way to involve players in it after they have used up their votes, beyond passively waiting for the award to get to you, or not.

I dont really mind if this idea gets knocked on the head, most of them do : but I do think it will have served some purpose if it prompts a discussion on how we can improve the Top Helper Award and actively involve players past the initial 'newbie' vote stage.

Bump:

Why don't we make it so you would have to purchase the votes when you run out?
For example: You used the 4 vote periods and you want to vote for 3 players another period. You input their ID's and then it would charge you 15 creds to have that vote be made.

But no one would pay 15 credits to vote

It's an example. :D 5 creds per vote as a basis.

but still, why pay for a vote. You're already giving your vote away, and then you want to make us pay for it too? COME ON!
You're just looking for more reasons to sell credits on the exchange!

:D :D well I'm just sayin that someone has to be worth a top helper vote and if it costs money, it makes the point have value, rather than the first free ones
