Speed Up Suggestions

Postby Admiral Nelson » Thu Aug 04, 2016 5:26 pm

I have been thinking in some ways of improving the game, as we all know we can Speed up certain elements by using turns, such elements which can be changed are in a list below ( At the top of my head, and not to forget in a none important list )

> Ship Travel , you can instant travel.
> Research times, you can speed up/Finish Researches

However, I can think of a few more elements that could be tweaked or implementations:
Implementations:
> Ship Market times ( When you have a bid on a ship , you can reduce time on it until it ends )
> Voodoo Card Market ( Speed up the time the card ends )

Tweaks:
Ship Travel: You can either Instant travel * Cheaper then spending turns in the long run * as it states OR spend X amount of turns to cut out X amounts of mins ( X=1 Turn/10 Mins )
Research: You can Instant complete for X amount of turns ( X depends on research times ) as well as spending X amount of turns to speed it up.

I would agree that the markets need a speed up. 3 days seems a bit to long.

Nelson are you suggestion we can speed up market bids with turns or just reducing the market sell times?
If you are suggesting turns, i would say -1
If you are suggesting just a reduction say from 3 days to 2 days. +1
I don't fear death. I look forward to it with great anticipation. For then I will met God face to face and let him know that I stole his Man of War!!!

I suggest the following options.

for ships - a buy now option - seller set price to put ship in market to start auction per current system
but can select the option for and set a buy now price for their ideal sale price.

For ships (this is off topic somewhat) i would also love to see the ability to sell multiple ships in 1 auction - say a 5 pack of howkers.
this would make the market usable for ships that are to cheap to sell for credits.

for cards - I suggest that when selling a card seller should be able to select hours of auction run.
the longer your cards run the more likely people are to notice, follow and buy them. however being able to
set the sell time would allow for a seller to potentially make credits fast should they need them for another opportunity,
It would also allow someone who follows the market carefully to sell cards immediately when market price demand is at it optimal point.

You cannot speed up another person's auction. It makes no sense. Speeding up your own auction makes it possible to exploit. Generally speaking, markets are very prone to exploitation and this is why the existing format has been chosen. It is not the best format (ie, no instant buy as you mention) but it is the most secure one.

The only compromise I can think on markets (although irrelevant with the topic but still mention-worthy) is to add a technology (a costly one) where certain players will be able to list buy-now options. This can work similarly like the idea with banks (the few bankers idea we had at least) where a few trusted "sellers" will be allowed extra benefits on how the market works.

Even if many choose this (chained) technology, we can still use it to punish/penalize someone who has exploited it. In this way, the system security will seemingly remain intact and we will allow an extra option.

Do not rely on this idea much though. It's just a thought.
