Something completely unrelated to the current fame model that would be an indicator of a players ships abilities and a players tactical battle sense.


I love the idea of exploring battle results as modifiers for this suggested feature!

First however, i think adding it as a simple addition with basic formulas would be great for the game and would still show a persons aggressive nature. Then explore adding more technical modifiers to the way it is determined in the future.

It would work very similarly to the national hostility rating in the way it rises from attacks and falls at regular intervals. Every successfull attack earns you "Infamy", but i do think it is important to base the amount earned on who is attacked. Could be too easy to gain this stat by hitting all the newest additions who've passed their 1,000 turn protection, and not really earned in my opinion. To become truely infamous, you need to attract the attention of high ranking members of society. Perhaps a base value plus a formula based on gold plundered and either (fame, shipcount, or influence) of the defender?

(This would not affect the amount of fame, ships, or influence the target has, just use the numbers for an equation.)

+1 Good suggestions and updates to the infamy stat, which I think is a great addition to the game.

Lets not get caught up in the technicalities of the English language. In the sense of the game, fame and infamy are the same thing. I support recreating the formula, but not introducing a new statistic that I believe to be unnecessary.

I disagree, Fame is how well one is known through their exploits either be romantic prowess, skill on the high seas and the amount of gc you spend.

Infamy is how badass you are.

I think, if this comes out there should be a card with it : One of which can hurt there battle count - most important part....

Such as, per raid a pirate gains 500k Infamy ; So the card would be 250k per ship infamy has been lost... So more ships, less chance they have.

So, REAL pirates would actually have something to loose! Pirates 5 - Traders 1

Fame already covers this. The problem is that the levels of renown (fame) are not differentiated between good and bad, which is where this suggestion is going. Infamy is fame, being known for something bad.

I don't see a reason to differentiate between good and bad fame. Being well known is just that, being well known. What you are known for (whether you are Famous or Notorious) is determined by what you have done.
