Warehouse Leasing

Postby Crackedcubes » Wed Dec 28, 2016 8:57 pm

Warehouse Leasing:

Feature that gives a player the ability to lease a warehouse from another player. Gives a player the option of gaining coin or credits from idle warehouses and allows warehouse players a chance to vastly increase their potato-rum-tobacco party card profits.

Thoughts?

-1. Leasing too noobs would take the fun out of growth + merchant profits are already high enough.

This idea has been talked about before and shot down.

Disagree: I can think of several long term players (that are not noobs) that would love to increase their warehouse capacity by leasing other's warehouses and as far as merchant profits: Lost $10M in gold to pirates in a 24 hour period, so whose profits are really high enough?

The fact that an idea was shot down in the past does not make it irrevalent in the future. Some good ideas on the forum are shot down strictly due to pirate manipulation of the forum threads!

I would have to say -1 on this topic. There is a tech that you can research that will help you with more expensive upgrades in the future.

Contract Shipping however is an idea that should be considered. This will open some cool doors for merchants.

I agree that reasons should be given, Cubes. I'll give you my reason against this, but hope you will continue posting on the forum.

If this was in place, the increasing prices of warehouses would no longer be a limiting factor. Most players use few ports, and a level 100 warehouse is "cheap" for most players. With this tech, I see every player building a level 100 or so warehouse in every port. Using four ports, and hiring out the rest, that gives 21/4, or about 5 times this size in effective warehouse (assume hiring out gives the same income as renting). And non-traders would make the available total warehouse capacity even larger. This would give no incentive for anyone to have large warehouses. It would thus also make one tech nearly worthless.

I am assuming this would be set up similar to how a bank works. A player could "Deposit" crates into a warehouse that is not his, but has a "Deposit" limit.
A player could then withdraw or sell those items at that warehouse.

However, I see room for abuse. The owner of the warehouse could be a massive trader. Have a warehouse that is 500 or larger. Have many players deposit items, lets say RUM into this ware house, and he/she uses Party card.

This is one of my reasons for the -1. I can site more if you like.

However, Contract Shipping is a paid for, contracted service for merchant or any that would like to take the contract. I think it will be very handy for some indeed.

And I agree wit HARON. Please keep posting on the forums. We need new ideas always, even if they are -1's. I have seen several great discussions on -1 posts that have turned into something else. Discussion/Conversation about game mechanics and improvements are much needed in the game. This was the one of the biggest reasons I created my new guild and invited Veteran players. We talk about the mechanics... and some mischief too. :P

The owner of the warehouse would have no control over the crates in the warehouse if he/she has leased the warehouse out.
