Captain Jack wrote:So, why the devs should find it problematic that you can be destroyed? Is it something bad? Are there no tools to help you in this case? Does it ruins your fun? This is not a social game where you compete for the highest score. This is a domination game and you all know it fully well. More so, why we should isolate Call Leviathan as the evil?

#1 Because it is boring and oversimplified. I want to be able to destroy players and be destroyed but not that easily.
#2 It gets rid of any strategy and offers a quick fix to allow players to kill $%!#
#3 It makes a way too large gap between paying players and non-paying players

The game should be battle oriented, with voodoo offering advantages and other strategies. This card bypasses combat and deals major direct damage instantly. Because of that it is seen as too strong and fast by most players and it is, regardless of how much it is needed.

Solution to it being needed:
--------------------------------------------------
There are three things that I see need to be changed before the leviathan can be replaced/removed

Captain Jack wrote:A ship of the line level 1 can be very destructive with a single voodoo card; Hostile Natives. Right now, the only countermeasure to this, is Call Leviathan. Right now there is an open hole with the restriction we have put on Man of War yesterday, but we are ready to follow Black Sparrow's suggested change with time protection when some player attempts it.

1) Stronger ships should be liable to lose levels regardless of ship count. They could have a higher chance of level loss based on how much danger they have or something

2) The plunder system. The fact that only the last ship in a fleet can lose a level or be ransomed is retarded. That makes leviathan mandatory since you will never take out the best ships of any player who is not a novice. Also a time based repair system or a voodoo card/ship that halts repairs is needed that way you can take a ship out of action for awhile if you try hard enough.

3) Voodoo that furfill a role Leviathan has and offer ways to beat stronger ships or disable them

The card should not be allowed in the voodoo packs. (No change to the card)
The card should not be able to be duplicated. (No change to the card)
The card should not be allowed in the auction. (No change to the card)

I like this idea, maybe even make a new card type if we HAVE to keep it - Super Rare. Then it could still be available to buy, just well.. more rare

if the card cant be bot in packs, and cant be bot in the auction... isnt that the same thing as banning it... just leaving the ones that exist.

moreover. im amazed this post keeps stretching out to extra pages.... i think admin is wrong 2, doesn't matter tho since the decision seems to be made already...

lets find something else to be unhappy about... lets all just agree that no one here likes achillies

I was looking for a good thread to post to but I'll start small. I'm new and can see the answer to this.

These things'll keep you from getting one
1) If nobody sends you the voodoo and you don't send it
2) You don't collect the one that you can get twice a day
3) Your wife thinks you posted here to be argumentative

Welcome to the forums Barnacle Bill 8-)

No.. in contrary, you raised a valid argument and you tested our patience on reserving a nerf on the card. I meant this in a positive way.

Out of the three suggestions, we could only discuss the duplicate one. The other two are out of the question as they are rated too restrictive, equal to a ban as Zombie Jesus pointed out.

I prefer a discussion with arguments like the one we are having now over a voting for this issue because I consider this issue to be too complex and too sensitive. Everyone can participate here after all.

I found Hawk's post very constructive. Him and Mordag and some others earlier have called this being too simple. You got a fan here on this argument.

Regarding Hawks 3 solutions needed before a change...
I agree with 1)
Both 1) and 2) can be solved with ship abilities.
Regarding 3), voodoo addition is something that helps.

However, since the discussion is now, we should resolve the card issue now. We may revise later again of course. We can always revise anything.

So, the proposals so far on the table, that we could agree with, are:
-Leviathan cannot target level 1 ships.
-Leviathan cannot be duplicated.

If I overlooked a suggestion again, just point it out.

CJ,

I disagree. Make enhanced ships (master craftsmanship) and MOW unsinkable by leviathan. Everything else is fair game. And a leviathan should require a massive amount of turns to use. Same with expedition journey.

T-

I forgot. Allow it to be duplicated.

leviathan seems like a moronic card to use a duplicate on.... i agree with Tilemaxos final point. both cards should cost 25 or even more turns.

protecting lvl 1 ships from levi seems like it would at least reduce the abusive nature of the levi

I disagree with making enhanced ships from mcs unsinkable because then you have these unsinkable super ships just floating around and now you have no card able to counter master craftsmanship and expedition journeys. That would be making the table of elites, ever more higher than free players

Once they are level 1 you can sink them via combat or is there something I am missing? I haven't been in any serious combat so I don't know.
