Speaking of rarity -a bit off topic- there are indirect ways to change a cards rarity. For example, if we add like 5 more cards to each category, all cards will become more rare (if you get my point).
Also, we do not sell this card at all. We only sell it indirectly, in booster packs, based on its rarity. However, we also generate it randomly, with equal chances to all cards to each user daily through the presents page; a total of 4 cards per player.
The market is run entirely ONLY by the players. We do not interfere with the market and the reason is inflation again. We want the credits to be valuable among users. Most of the credits used in the game, are bought from the players. There are credits coming from promotional campaigns ( like this
http://s2.piratesglory.com/?page=treasu ... ee_credits ). The market is a way for players to exchange cards. Some may use it to earn credits. We value this right highly and we want to promote this and keeping it strictly between players, it is the best we can do.
Regarding nerfing, it is a serious issue. I have seen games with solid playerbase for 15 straight years to fail for this reason; A single nerf is only the start of a bad rusty chain that never stops but can break anytime. I understand the concerns as expressed by some players. We do value everyone's opinion. We do consider all of your thoughts and we are thinking of counterparts for every problem -including this- you might mention.
Ultimately, everything is up to the usage. Sure, I would be really mad at losing my war fleet to some lunatic who had the nerve to collect 50 cards in 1 year, just to use them on me. But poor usage in Pirates Glory does not go unpunished. Am I right? There are tools for you to either go after him and deal a lot worse blow OR just ask your friends. This is what matters in the end and surely, there are more cards that can be used in this destructive way but still it is a hard case scenario. I have seen how players used voodoo when they came out. Some players learned the hard way. Leviathans falls in this case as well. I would not underestimate public opinion either.
My apologies for derailing this topic further, I won't post further off topic here again.
So, back on topic, here are some more pros I have thought of, more general though that include the card (some have been mentioned already but in a similar way, not in exact).
Pros
=-=-=-=
-A young player can sell it for credits in the players market. Then use this credits on the market again to get a more beneficial card for him. It helps the market to create cards that are more helpful to some players than it is to others. Call Leviathan is one of these cards and this is one more reason as to why it has a good price in the market.
-Any player may use the leviathan cards he has amassed as a negotiation tool. I regard this as a pro while some may mention this as a con. The reason I regard this as a pro is that every strategy is better than an inexistent one.
-It is an index of power/dread. The more of these beasts one has, the more dreadful he appears. It is no wonder that the names of the top holders are illustrious well-known players.
-They can worth more stocked than used (see all above arguments).
Also, some assumptions that are positive in keeping the card as it is:
-They are scarcely used randomly. Most of the usage has been during wars and still in light of recent discussion of Call Leviathan, players appear more conservative about them.
-Even if someone is wrecked by tons of them, then he is equipped with negotiation tools. No one seems to approve mass usage of this card after all and there is a growing number of players that consider the usage hateful/vengeful etc. This will lead to more targeted usage for specific reasons against special targets. This sounds about good and interesting.
Especially for the interesting part, I must say that this card is really interesting. It
BOOSTS YOUR ADRENALINE. I like this type of cards as they make me feel more lively (alife).
(ps. I got an adrenaline boost when I saw it in my events on my test Man o War - apparently my own usage earlier but I forgot it - if it can boost the adrenaline of an administrator who has no interest on the ship then I am assuming that it can boost the adrenaline of the average player)
