The last comment first: I agree that such was the case in "real life". However, that does not mean it's the best rule for a game. Do we really want kings by lineage only?

Anyway, I'll admit I have too little experience to see how the rules should be. But I DO see that whatever rules will exist regarding this, it will be important. What I fear about your proposal, is that a team of ten players team up in a nation, rise to the top, and vote anyone else trying to rise in that nation out. On the other hand, I also favor rules that encourages loyalty to ones nation, lest you become a pirate. And I think your nationality should be SOMEWHAT stable - not saying you should never be allowed to change it, of course, but that changing nationality should take time and be kind of a big deal.

Another question: How come Danik hasn't been deported yet, if the current leadership doesn't want him there? Ah, but that is of course not a rule question, but a question about diplomacy, and I suspect the answer is highly classified information... :-)

Danik has already given you the answer if you read correctly what ppl are saying. You can't deport active players. To deport a player they must be inactive for 30 days

Conflicted on whether voting on duke+ is good or bad. It could create a more balanced government with elected peoples but also could only allow an oligarchical government. Maybe before any changes are made, the nation can choose what type of government it will have! I'd be interested in seeing a Theocracy with a religious head figure in the game.

I think that in order to get a nationality, one should have a "waiting time" since one gave up the last nationality, during which one has to be a pirate. I'd say at least 7 days. And one should have to have a very low hostility towards the nation one wants to join.

You cannot do the first citizen mission if you have ANY hostility with the chosen nation : it must be zero when you start the mission.

Actually, looking at the current real US Congress and Senate is a pretty good example of how voting gets used as part of party warfare : its probably one of the few areas where nations in Avonmora can reflect reality : Anyhow, folk are missing the point overall : the USA has been under one-party rule for the benefit of that one party : now, there is another party in town and boy, are the old hacks screaming at the idea they may lose their place at the treasury trough.

Folk, you have to bear in mind, that all changes which hinder your enemy will also hinder your friends : block an enemies access to pay-outs and votes and you create the mechanism where they can block you too : now, being one of the few in the game who has direct experience of this kind of warfare, its damn complex and the ground shifts back and forth along with voting power, influence changes, throne grabbing, and so on : the kings veto is a wonderful thing when you are king, its not so welcome when the enemy grab the throne and can use it on your votes. So, as ever, I say 'Be careful what you wish for' ; what seems great today, may be less awesome tomorrow when the circumstances reverse.

Which is what the [U.S.A.] guild did when it moved into the nation in the first place : of course, you only came to make the nation greater than it was, thoughts of filthy lucre were far from your minds : so, why can't others like [ERIS] do the same? Have you considered I may be a just and wise King and bring benefits to all? No, you prefer the current shambolic oligarchy because it has put coin in your purse and you fear that being lost, or worse, shared with others not in your guild. Which is what all your angst and outrage it is truly about, not the nation and ALL its citizens, but the narrow financial interests of your guild. Your guild has 14 members : the USA nation has 2800 citizens : by what mathematics does that give you a majority in decision making? None, logically, but the game rules say it does ; those rules apply to me and to you, either may benefit from them, use them, finesse them and, of course, whine about them :)

But you suggest a motive for our actions : have you considered we might just be doing our job, having been paid to destroy the [U.S.A.} guild? Surely your guild, of all others, would appreciate the delicious, almost poetic irony of that, being such prolific users of mercenaries yourselves :)

Advertising slot : [ERIS} is available for hire on completion of our current mission. Reasonable rates and terms available to the discerning client.
