Mack you still don't get it. The reason why the numbers are low is because of modern medicine, mask wearing and all the preventative measures such as hand sanitizer, washing hands and lockdowns. If the world continued as is and did not do these measures the economic impact would be immense. So would the amount of deaths. I've told you this before but it seems like it goes in one ear and out the other.

During the Black Death whole communities survived without a single case. Because no-one with it ever visited them. Of course, once one did they became just another plague spot.

To be fair though, Corona is incredibly tame compared to the black death. At this point, I personally am not worried if I caught Corona, as I'm fairly healthy and fairly young(only old and bitter in mind and soul). So I doubt I'd die from it(still would prefer not getting it obviously.)

I think a lot of other younger and healthy folks have that mindset. "it's unlikely to kill me, so why should I be worried about it". I can tell you though, that if this was black death deadly, or similar, I'd be pretty bloody worried

Edit-and if folks are like me, and have no children or elderly relatives or any other unhealthy vulnerable loved ones, it's even less of an issue. Both my parents are 6 feet under, and I never see my nieces. Only person I could pass it to is my brother, or roommates-who like me, would probably not die. Some folks are also just selfish, and don't care if they might pass it to a vulnerable person.

If your healthcare is up to date, the black death will nowhere be able to have ANY form of the same impact. Just need to be able to withstand the capacity.
The problem isn't that Corona is "dangerous" - It's how often it actually mutates, and how contagious it is. What if it actually mutates and become as lethal as SARS were?
I don't care about getting corona, least for my sake - I'm healthy. I'm more worried about catching it, so I'll pass it on to my kinsmen.
